Chino Swears In New Chief of Police Kevin Mensen | |
Chino's 19th Chief of Police, Kevin Mensen, was sworn in during a public ceremony held August 17 at the Chino Police Department. Chief Mensen, who began his career with Chino PD as a Police Cadet in 1997, has held various roles during his 26-year career with the City of Chino. Mensen was promoted from Deputy Chief of Police.

Retirement Walk of Honor Held for Chino Chief of Police Wes Simmons | |
A Walk of Honor, a traditional ceremony to bid farewell to retiring police officers in Chino, was held for outgoing Chief of Police Wes Simmons on August 10 at the Chino Police Department. The event marked Simmon's last day on the job and the end of a long career with the Chino PD. Chief Simmons was joined by his wife Heidi down the Walk of Honor and then into a standing-room-only crowd in the Police Department Community Room.

September 16 Chino Cares Preparedness Fair
Mark your calendar for September 16 and be part of history at the first annual Chino Cares Emergency Preparedness Fair. Presented in collaboration with the City of Chino, Chino Police Department, Chino Valley Fire District, and California Fire Foundation, this family-oriented event is dedicated to equipping our community with essential skills and resources to navigate disasters effectively.

September 30 Free Compost and Mulch Giveaway
Did you know all residential green waste collected curbside is made into a soil conditioner? This FREE event takes place Saturday, September 30 at the Public Works Services Yard (5050 Schaefer Avenue) from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Here are some friendly reminders:
- First come, first served to Chino Residents (Be prepared to show identification and utility bill.)
- Bring a shovel and durable containers to load and transport material.
- Masks, gloves and eye protection are recommended.
- Non-Chino residents can attend during the last hour of event if materials are still available.

The City of Chino, in partnership with Waste Management, is providing a FREE Residential Community Clean-Up (13793 Redwood Street) for City of Chino residents on Saturday, October 14 from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Dispose of unwanted tires, furniture, appliances, electronics, yard waste, concrete, brick, dirt, scrap metal and much more for FREE!
