November 2021
Last year during the height of the COVID pandemic, we continued to support our community through virtual weekly rehearsals and online video offerings. Now as we enter this period of resuming live music performances together, we remind you of our ongoing need to support our mission and our connection with you and the broader community.

The need is great. We have set an ambitious goal of $16K to help us meet our ongoing operating costs. Please schedule your Colorado Gives donation to the Boulder Chorale today!

"I love to sing and there is nothing more joyful and heart warming than singing with like minded people who love music! The Boulder Chorale is a special community of singers and we are so lucky to have such talented artistic directors who put together such a wide variety of music from around the world to share with others. Pure joy!!"

Meet Our Staff
Dr. Vicki Burrichter
Boulder Concert Chorale & Chamber Chorale Artistic Director
“Dr. Vicki's passion for the live performance--her focus in the moment with her chorale, musicians, and audience--drives her singers to their best work and creates an unsurpassed excitement and enthusiasm within the concert hall. She is the consummate professional on stage, and she brings performers and audience alike along for a truly special connection with the music and with each other.” —Robin Guthrie, Boulder Chorale Board President.

This month we recognize Dr. Vicki Burrichter, Boulder Concert Chorale and Chamber Chorale Artistic Director. She was named Artistic Director in July 2015 and has not only maintained the integrity of the 54-year-old chorus and its mission, but she has also expanded the repertoire and reach of the chorus within the community, held the community together through the height of the pandemic, and is courageously leading the Boulder Concert Chorale and Boulder Chamber Chorale back to live music-making for the 2021-2022 season.

When asked what drew her to the Boulder Chorale, Dr. Vicki (as the chorale fondly calls her) had this to say: “I was drawn to the Boulder Chorale because Boulder is a progressive community, because the Boulder Chorale has wonderful children's choirs as well as adult choirs, and because the adult choirs were ready for more diversity in programming, which is a strength of mine. There are also wonderful musicians from around the world on the Front Range, and I was eager to work with many of them. The Chorale members themselves are a loving and strong community, I have wonderful staff to work with, and the board has tremendous integrity. It seemed like a great match!”

This great match has proved true! The members themselves have such wonderful things to say about their chorale experiences under her baton. They appreciate her musical direction, program vision, and expert leadership.

“What I appreciate about Vicki’s artistic vision is bringing a variety of musical traditions and styles to the Boulder Chorale and its audiences. She’s not stuck in any given genre and stretches the singers in many new and different ways. As a singer, I really enjoy that and, having spoken to many people who have attended our concerts, know that they do too!” —Greg Herring, Treasurer

“With each piece of music, Vicki sets the expectations high and instructs and inspires us to reach that goal.” —Laura Moore, Boulder Chorale Vice President

Dr. Burrichter has extensive choral conducting experience. Her full biography can be found here and is an impressive read. She has much to be proud of and had the following to say when asked what her greatest accomplishments with the Boulder Chorale have been so far: “The thing I am most proud of so far is the diversity of music we perform and ensembles we collaborate with. We have been able to work with artists like the Austin Piazzolla Quintet (tangos), The Boulder Samba School and Ginga (Brazil), Guerrilla Fanfare (New Orleans second line), Jeff Jenkins and Susanne Morales (Cuba), Kutandara Marimba (Zimbabwe) and JamKeyJam (Hindustani). And I'm excited to work with musicians from Morocco in our spring concert: Origins: The Fertile Crescent. The singers are willing to take on any music I ask them to, and that is a rare thing! We have also kept the strong foundation of classical oratorios and a cappella choral music that the Chorale loves: We have worked with The Boulder Philharmonic, Pro Musica Colorado Chamber Orchestra, The Boulder Chamber Orchestra, and The Boulder Symphony. The Boulder Chorale can do it all!”

The Boulder Concert Chorale returned to live singing for the Boulder community for A World in Harmony earlier this month, which was celebrated by all involved. Dr. Vicki had this to say about how she is moving forward with the Boulder Chorale Community: “Being away from live music for the last year-and-a-half has been extremely difficult. I love this chorus and the people in it, and I missed hearing their gorgeous singing and seeing their beautiful faces! We did a full year of online programming, which kept the community together and provided education for the singers, but I know we are ALL relieved to be back to in-person singing. Our Singers' Resonance masks and our wonderful sound engineer made the A World in Harmony concert sound every bit as good as what we have been used to sounding unmasked!

I'm so grateful to our audiences and donors who support our mission - THANK YOU!”
