February 2021
Greetings!
We welcome you to our first edition of The Chorale Connection, a monthly review of online music and upcoming events from the Boulder Chorale and beyond. Please join us!

What's Up This Month?
The spring semester has started for both our Concert Chorale and Children’s Chorale Choirs. Weekly sessions include online rehearsals, guest speakers, and visiting choral clinicians. All choirs are working on virtual performances to be released later this spring. Here are some highlights:

Concert Chorale
• PBS American Master Holly Near joined us two weeks ago for an inspirational interview. We ended the event by singing her piece, I Am Willing, together with her on zoom.
• Next on the schedule, we welcomed Brazil's Award-Winning Vocal Group Ordinarius who presented a lively workshop for our singers.

Boulder Children's Chorale
• BCC choirs welcomed Ruth Dwyer, an internationally-known choral educator to our rehearsals last week. Mrs. Dwyer worked with all four of our choirs in our zoom rehearsals and we had a lot of fun!
Keep your eye on this space. We will be sharing video excerpts from each of these guests in the coming months.

This Month in Music
Dr. Anton Armstrong is the Harry R. and Thora H. Tosdal Chair in Music at St. Olaf College and Conductor of the St. Olaf Choir. An African-American, he has for decades been devoted to expanding the repertoire of choral music to include more music of the African diaspora, and is considered one of choral music's leaders in this educational mission.

This month is Black History Month, and Dr. Armstrong has put together this beautiful program you can stream on YouTube: Sounds from St. Olaf Episode 10: Lift Every Voice And Sing - A Celebration of African American Music.
The Boulder Chorale is very grateful for the generous support of our grantors and sponsors:
