King of Peace MCC Matters

March 12th, 2025

See the Gospels come alive! Starting tonight at 7 pm, over 8 weeks, we will gather together to watch season one of the TV series called "The Chosen", a groundbreaking historical drama based on the life of Jesus Christ. Set against the backdrop of Roman oppression in first-century Israel, the show shares an authentic and intimate look at Jesus’ revolutionary life and teachings. You'll encounter the Jesus story in a brand new way, through the eyes of those who knew him! Each week, we will watch one episode and then have a time of discussion. You can sign up in the foyer or email melanie@churchstpetersburg.org. You can watch a trailer of "The Chosen" here.

A Word from Rev Ray

Dear Church Family,

As we continue our journey through our series, "Navigating Relationships: Striking a Balance Through the Fruit of the Spirit," we come to a beautiful and essential gift—Peace.

We are blessed with many resources to help us navigate life’s challenges, but do we have the inner strength to truly preserve life? This Sunday, our Scripture reading brings us to a powerful moment: the disciples, caught in a storm, are filled with fear—even though Jesus is right there in the boat with them. This moment invites us to reflect: Do we seek a faith that simply brings Jesus into our worries, or a faith that allows Jesus to bring us into His perfect peace?

I encourage you to join us this Sunday as we explore this third dimension of the fruit of the Spirit. Come with an open heart, expecting a blessing.

Looking forward to worshiping with you!

Blessings,

~Rev. Ray

Thank you to everyone who showed up to support King of Peace being inducted into FAST on Monday evening. FAST stands for Faith & Action for Strength Together. It is a congregation-based community organization whose purpose is to train residents from diverse congregations to work together to identify root causes of community problems and take action on these problems. Through FAST, diverse people come together to powerfully address the needs in their own communities. If you have any more questions about what we will do with FAST, see the Social Justice Team.

Our Food Pantry's shelves are looking a little bare, so we are in need of any kind of non-perishable food donations this month! However, the specific requests from our Food Pantry Team are Cereal, Peanut Butter, and Crackers. If you are able to donate, please bring them anytime and place them in the donation cart in the foyer.

We regret to inform you that on Sunday evening, February 23rd, Robert Schneider entered into his eternal life. We are quite sure that his beloved Paul was there to greet him into those pearly gates and show him around heaven.

We will have a Celebration of Life for Robert at King of Peace this Saturday, March 15th at 11 am, with a reception following in the Social Hall. We hope that you will join us in praying for all of his family and friends, as they grieve his loss.
