A Big Day Planned
Today I’m looking at all we have planned for Sunday, October 29. Since this is a fifth Sunday, we are holding a joint service at 10:00 AM. This will be followed by a Brunch in the Activities Room. Please contact Nancy Samp if you would like to offer to help. To email, click here.
Consecration Sunday Worship
October 29 is our annual Consecration Sunday when we dedicate your 2024 commitments of time, talent and resources. Our theme this year is Giving Awakens Our Spirit! The regular practice of giving leads us to trust God more deeply for our needs and the needs of the church’s ministry and mission. It makes us more alive to God’s generous Holy Spirit in our lives as we seek to live faithfully. Please bring your 2024 commitment card to church on that Sunday for a special moment in the service when we will receive them and pray for their use.
Welcoming Our Associate Minister – Rev. Heather Patten!
The Search Committee for an Associate Minister began interviews in January. After an exhaustive search that yielded several excellent candidtates, we are incredibly excited to receive Rev. Heather Patten as our Associate Minister of Discipleship and Connection. Heather will be charged with developing and directing a Christian Formation (Discipleship) Ministry from children through adults and implementing a Connection Ministry from first time visit to involvement in an intentional journey of spiritual growth. You can read more about her HERE and watch a short video introduction of herself HERE. Let’s roll out the red carpet of welcome, hospitality and support!
A Brunch Reception
Following the one service at 10:00 AM, we will hold a Brunch Reception to welcome Heather and her family in the Activities Room. We will also hear from several folks in the church for whom giving is a regular spiritual practice, who will share how regular giving has shaped their spiritual lives. Come with open and generous hearts to hear the testimony of the Spirit’s work in people’s lives. Indeed, giving and sharing awakens the Spirit in our lives. Thanks be to God!

Transformational Housing has just received concurrence from the state historic preservation office and are awaiting two 15 day public comment periods. The first of which started last Thursday. On completion we will begin the bid process for tuck pointing and lead and asbestos removal for 101 Jackson. Even though we received a grant, lead removal from all the plaster walls and an increased degradation of the brickwork will require more than we anticipated. We will begin fundraising in November for this project and a large addition to an apartment building at 1112 E. McCarty. In total we will need to raise about $500,000.
In the meantime our families at 203 Cherry street are making progress on their goals toward self sufficiency.
Prayers, financial support, and volunteer workers and coaches are needed.
Contact John Blosser with questions or to volunteer. Financial support can be made through church or directly to Transformational Housing at PO Box 104784, Jefferson City, MO 65110.
Blessings and thanks.

Halloween candy donations are requested for the East School Trunk or Treat. You may drop off small individually-wrapped treats in the big orange bucket outside the church office.
Trunk or Treat is Tuesday, October 31 at 1:00 in the parking lot at East School. If you are able to come, grab a friend and plan an easy, festive but not frightening decoration for your trunk or the back of your vehicle and join the East School staff for this annual event. Just let Robin Grumm know if you are able to come and take part!

I am so pleased to let you know that your donations to Festival of Sharing amounted to 29 bags of paper products (facial tissue, toilet paper and paper towels) which were delivered to Tipton last Saturday.
As you can tell from the photos below, there were lots of products to be bagged and our Boy Scouts Troop 333 did a great job packing these for us. They even took time to load the completed bags into the pickup. These products will be further distributed to those who do not have access to nearby Food Pantries.
Festival of Sharing is one of many community service events conducted by Church Women United (CWU), an ecumenical service group of volunteers from around Missouri, an outreach of Mary’s Circle.
A big THANK YOU to the Boy Scouts and the church members who donated time, treasure and effort to this worthwhile project.
Joyce Wagner of behalf of Mary Circle

Dear friends,
It is with sadness that I share with you that Shirley Jarrett passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation.
A private family remembrance will be held to honor Shirley.
Please keep Annie, Matt, Brooks and the Jarrett family in your prayers at this difficult time.
The Lord bless her and keep her,
The Lord make his face to shine upon her.
The Lord lift up his countenance upon her and give her peace. Amen!
Sincerely,
Dr. Michael Dunn

What a beautiful day for the annual hayride and bonfire at Binder Park! A fun afternoon of corn hole, Frisbee, food and fellowship was had by all. It's always a great time to just sit back and relax, enjoy each other's company, and get to know others better. Special thanks to Sally & Bob Robuck and Pastor Dunn who helped organize everything at the bonfire site. Also, thank you to my brother, Gene Enslen for his help.
