Cinnaire Closes Two Largest Funds in Company History
Cinnaire wrapped up 2022 by closing of two of the largest Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) equity funds in our organization's history!
Cinnaire's Midwest Community Fund 38
In late 2022, Cinnaire announced the closing of the 2022 Midwest Community Fund, a $211 million LIHTC Equity Fund with capital raised from fifteen institutional investors. The fund is the largest single equity fund in Cinnaire's 30-year history and will infuse capital investments into 25 affordable housing properties to create or preserve more than 1,900 homes in five states.

The Fund will support 25 multi-family developments in Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota. Overall, the fund will create 1,900 units equating to 3,055 bedrooms serving more than 3,800 individuals including 662 units for seniors or individuals and families with special needs. 2022 MidAtlantic Community Fund
In December, Cinnaire announced the closing of the largest MidAtlantic LIHTC Fund in our history. The $86.3 million fund will bring more than 691 units of affordable housing to the region. Since 2013,. Cinnaire has partnered with financial institutions and insurance companies throughout the MidAtlantic to raise more than $417 million to support more than 4,800 units of affordable housing.

The 2022 MidAtlantic Community Fund will support ten properties including The Flats - Phase V, the latest phase of a large-scale redevelopment of property built in the City of Wilmington in the early 1900s into newly constructed, high-quality affordable housing. Cinnaire CEO Chairs Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration

Cinnaire was honored to join our partners from the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan to host the 38th Annual MLK Day of Celebration at the Lansing Center on January 16th. Mark McDaniel once again served as Honorary Chairperson for the celebration which featured special guest Fred Gray, a preacher, activist, and civil rights attorney who represented Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Claudette Colvin and plaintiffs in the Tuskegee experiment lawsuit. Gray, who Dr. King referred to as "chief counsel for the protest movement", recently received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor. Recognized as one of the nation's leading civil rights attorneys for more than 60 years, Gray is still practicing law at the age of 92.

Cinnaire serves as a monumental partner for the commission and donates $50,000 annually to support the Mark S. McDaniel and James Butler College Scholarship program. The competitive scholarship program is designed to inspire and empower high school students from all backgrounds to achieve higher education. This year, as a special tribute to James Butler, Cinnaire contributed an additional $5,000 to each scholarship recipient.
Cinnaire Celebrates Restoring Waters & Nellie Francis Court Groundbreaking
Cinnaire recently joined our partners from Emma Norton, Project for Pride in Living, St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, Council member Chris Tolbert, and Northern Division of Ryan Companies to celebrate the groundbreaking for Restoring Waters and Nellie Francis Court in St. Paul, MN. The new Restoring Waters supportive housing facility will provide affordable housing and support services for families recovering from trauma and home instability. Nellie Francis Court will bring a 75-unit affordable apartment development to the community. Cinnaire provided a $7.1 million Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) investment to support Restoring Waters and a $7.1 million LIHTC investment to support Nellie Francis Court.

The project is being developed by Project to Pride in Living (PPL), a mission-driven nonprofit that builds the hope, assets, and self-reliance of individuals and families who have lower incomes by providing transformative affordable housing and career readiness services. Support services will be provided by Emma Norton, a nonprofit service agency founded in 1971 to care for women and families recovering from trauma.
Cinnaire Cares Generates $35,000 to Support Mission-Driven Organizations
Cinnaire Cares, our companywide staff-funded charitable giving program, was developed by our employees through the Staff Engagement Committee to support our mission-driven partners in the communities where we live, work, and serve. Our employees contribute twice monthly to a fund established to support staff nominated charities. Since inception, Cinnaire Cares has raised more than $175,000 to support our mission-driven partners across our footprint.

Cinnaire recently announced the latest Cinnaire Cares donations. With Cinnaire's matching contribution, a total of $35,000 was raised during this funding round, making it our largest funding round to date! From a nonprofit providing low-income youth and families of color with opportunities through economic empowerment, to a free training program offering students the opportunity to learn skills for a successful career in the hospitality industry, the Cinnaire Cares recipients are once again a diversified group of organizations and missions.
The Meadows: Affordable Housing for Farm & Agriculture Workers
Cinnaire recently joined our partners at Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Program (SWCAP) and Wisconsin Management Company to celebrate the grand opening for The Meadows, a 32-unit new construction affordable housing community in Darlington, WI, designed exclusively to support agriculture and farmworkers and their families. Cinnaire provided a $4.1 million LIHTC investment and a $260,300 predevelopment loan to support the projects. Cinnaire Solutions, the in-house development affiliate of Cinnaire, partnered with Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Program (SWCAP) to co-develop The Meadows.
Cinnaire CEO Join Forces with Haven House to Fight Against Homelessness
Cinnaire President and CEO Mark McDaniel is excited to return as a Star Server for the 10th Annual Haven House Pancake Palooza! Haven House's mission is to guide and support families who face homelessness on their paths to stable homes. Funds raised during Pancake Palooza will be used to help families stay together and stay safe. For every $1,000 raised, Haven House is able to provide housing and services to one family for a year. Mark is gearing up for a tough competition with his fellow star servers to try and retain his title as Pancake Palooza Champion but more important to make a difference for our neighbors in need.
