VALLEJO, CA – Yesterday, Governor Gavin Newsom announced the latest in a series of awards to local governments for project Homekey. The City of Vallejo is pleased to inform the Vallejo Community that the City will receive a $12.1 million grant after a very successful application process. The Homekey grant will fund a 48-unit new construction, permanent supportive housing project in the City.
The new 48-unit housing project will include a community room, courtyard, and access from inside and outside to a 1,600 square-foot rooftop deck. On-site supportive services will be client-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed to help participants with goal setting, life skills, financial literacy, budgeting, needs assessments, and connections to benefits and community resources.
"We are beyond elated with the award of these funds from Governor Newsom's office," said Assistant City Manager Gillian Hayes. "We have been working tirelessly towards longer-term solutions to house and support our unsheltered residents, and this award is just the beginning of great things to come."
