The City of Marseilles gives sincere condolences and prayers to the family and friends of retired City attorney Richard Burton a Marseilles native whom passed away on Monday.  Burton served the City of Marseilles as city attorney and planning commission attorney for 15 years. Richard was a great attorney and friend. Richard you will be missed.

Construction for the sidewalk replacement project funded through the $250,000 Safe Routes to School Grant was originally scheduled to begin on July 29. However, Davis Concrete has informed the City Engineer that construction will now begin on Wednesday, August 5. The City remains hopeful that the project will be completed before students return to school.

The City of Marseilles is preparing to submit an Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Grant application to help fund the replacement of playground equipment at Knudson Park, along with the addition of several new park amenities.


As part of the grant application process, the City invites residents to attend a public meeting to learn more about the proposed improvements, ask questions, and share their input. Community participation is an important part of the application and helps demonstrate local support for the project.

The City of Marseilles in cooperation with the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce will be doing ribbon cutting on Friday August 7th.
