Responsive and Resilient: Serving Today, Preparing for Tomorrow

Cedar Park’s proposed FY 2027 budget totals $216.1 million and focuses on delivering the high-quality services residents rely on today while making responsible investments in our community’s future.

At the heart of the proposal is the $84.9 million General Fund budget, which prioritizes public safety, infrastructure, the City workforce, and the maintenance of existing facilities.

During the second of four public budget presentations last night, the Cedar Park City Council adopted a maximum tax rate of $0.377930 per $100 of taxable value and scheduled additional public hearings as the budget process moves forward.

Together, the proposed budget and tax rate reflect the City’s commitment to being responsive to today’s needs while remaining resilient and preparing for tomorrow.

Residents will have additional opportunities in the coming weeks to learn more and provide input during public hearings on the proposed budget and tax rate before final adoption.

U.S. Rep. John Carter Recognizes Cedar Park Gavel Club Participants with Congressional Awards

U.S. Rep. John Carter joined the Cedar Park City Council during last night’s meeting to recognize members of the Cedar Park 4-H Gavel Club who earned Congressional Award medals.

Led by Club Manager Diana Wiggins, the Cedar Park 4-H Gavel Club combines Toastmasters, 4-H, public speaking, community service, and leadership development to help young people build skills, confidence, and a commitment to serving others. The club began with just eight children and has since grown to include 344 participants.

The Congressional Award recognizes young Americans who set and achieve goals in voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness, and expedition or exploration. Earning the award represents a significant commitment, with participants dedicating more than 800 hours toward completing the program’s requirements and achieving their goals.

Congressman Carter congratulated the medal recipients, while the City Council recognized their dedication, hard work, leadership, and service to the community.

Congratulations to the Cedar Park 4-H Gavel Club Congressional Award medal winners on this outstanding achievement!

Chlorine Rinse: System Hygiene

To maintain the effectiveness of the region's water distribution system, the cities of Cedar Park, Round Rock, Leander, and Liberty Hill have temporarily changed their disinfectant from chloramine to free chlorine. This change began on August 3, 2026, and will remain for approximately one month.

This conversion is part of a coordinated regional effort, as the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority (BCRUA), which supplies water to these cities either directly or through one of its owner cities, is conducting the same conversion simultaneously.

During the conversion, customers may notice a chlorine-like taste or smell in their water. This is normal. The water will remain safe to drink, bathe in, and use for everyday purposes, including watering plants.

For more information, visit cedarparktexas.gov/ChlorineRinse.
