Official news about the City of Cedar Park from the City of Cedar Park.
Thank you for your many years of service,
Mayor Corbin Van Arsdale!
After completing eight years of elected service, four as Mayor and four as a City Council Member, Mayor Corbin Van Arsdale chose to not run for re-election this year. At the May 12, 2022 City Council Meeting, he was recognized for his service.

As a Council Member, Corbin served as Mayor Pro Tem and prior to serving on Council, he was appointed to the City's 4B Community Development and Parks (now PACE) Boards. Over the years, City Council selected Corbin to represent the City on the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority (BCRUA) and Executive Committee of the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) where he was elected Vice Chair for 2017 and Chair for 2018.

His many accomplishments include leading our community through the challenges presented by the pandemic - notably, partnering with the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce to provide pandemic relief grants for Cedar Park's small businesses; navigating us through the exceptional circumstances created by the February 2021 and 2022 Ice Storms; seeing through the creation, implementation and completion of the successful 2015 Bond Program and the creation of the 2022 Bond Program; seeing through the Bell District - from helping to envision the Master Plan, to selecting Master Developer RedLeaf, to starting District construction; the start and completion of many new road projects (such as moving an entire section of highway, e.g., the Bell Road Realignment Project) and so much more!

Mayor Van Arsdale, we send you our heartfelt thanks for your steadfast leadership and wish you the best in your endeavors. #I❤️CedarPark

May 7 Mayor, City Council and Bond Election results: next steps

According to projected Election results, Jim Penniman-Morin is our Mayor-Elect and incumbent Council Members, Mel Kirkland, Eric Boyce and Heather Jefts will continue serving in Places Two, Four and Six. Bond Propositions A (Transportation), B (Parks & Recreation) and C (Public Safety) also passed. All Election results are unofficial until canvassed.

So what happens next?
Canvassing: Canvassing, which is the official certification of the Election results, takes place at a Special-Called City Council Meeting Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 5 p.m. The projected winning Bond propositions become effective immediately upon this canvassing of Election results. The Mayor-Elect and incumbent City Council Members are still to-be sworn in.

Mayor and City Council Swearing-In Ceremony: Our Mayor-Elect and incumbent City Council Members will be officially sworn into office at the next Regular Scheduled City Council Meeting on May 26, 2022.

City Council Place One seat: Because Mayor-Elect Penniman-Morin is currently serving on City Council Place One, once he is sworn in as Mayor on May 26, the Place One seat will become vacant. City Council will go through a process to fill the Place One seat. Stay tuned for more information!

Year-end reminder: "Heads Up" for kids in school zones and neighborhoods
As the school year draws to a close, let's remember to have a "Heads Up" for kids in school zones and neighborhoods. Please slow down, obey posted speed limit signs and other trafic signs, teach kids the rules of the road and always expect the unexpected. Pack your patience and put down that phone while driving. Let's all finish the school year safely together and have a Heads Up, Cedar Park!
It's already proving to be a scorcher this summer, and it's looking like we're headed into another drought. One of your best water conservation tools is at your fingertips. If you haven't done so already, set up your online digital water metering portal account. There, you can see your water usage in near-real-time, detect leaks and set reminders.

Outdoor watering is the single biggest use of water during the hottest months. During late summer, for example, we often see water production double at our water treatment plant. You can save water and money by following your designated two-days-per-week watering schedule.
