New Hope Drive Extension Now Open to Through Traffic

The ribbon has been cut and we're excited to announce the opening of the New Hope Drive expansion that connects Ronald Reagan Boulevard and Sam Bass Road!

The project was financed by City of Cedar Park voter-approved 2022 Bond Program funds and the Williamson County 2019 voter-approved Road Bond. The project came in under budget and includes a raised median, curb and gutter, enclosed storm sewer system, illumination, shared-use path, and bike lanes.

“The completion of the New Hope Drive Extension project underscores the City’s commitment to improve regional mobility, enhance safety, and relieve traffic congestion. Projects like this do not happen without collaboration and the City expresses appreciation to Williamson County for our strong partnership. This project ensures safer thoroughfares for motorists and supports future growth and economic development opportunities,” said Mayor Jim Penniman-Morin.

The new 1.8-mile stretch features a newly constructed bridge near the north end connection to Toro Grande Boulevard, which is now one of the largest City-owned bridges.

Additionally, this project includes extending a 16-inch water transmission main along the stretch, which aims to provide water service to undeveloped areas and foster economic development opportunities.
