Cedar Park water rates increase on February 1
City Council approved the adjustment to ensure reliable and consistent long-term water security, and to continue sound financial management. The rate adjustment results in an increase of 9.3% to the average utility bill. The adjustment will be reflected in utility bills in mid-March.

Cedar Park’s water rates remain second lowest in the Highland Lake cities and third lowest among its fifteen benchmark comparison cities across the region and State. The Utility is a self-supporting enterprise, functioning only from utility revenue with no tax contributions.

In keeping with the City Council’s Strategic Goal of Operational & Fiscal Excellence, City staff analyze the rate structure annually to ensure the rates sustain the utility. City staff used a rate model with industry-standard financial criteria to set water and wastewater rates. This determined an adjustment was needed to meet funding for rising operational costs, escalating project costs, recent large-scale emergency repairs and unanticipated projects.

To promote water conservation goals, the City added a fourth conservation tier rate for usage exceeding 20,000 gallons. If you use more water, your water bill will be higher than those who conserve water. Click here for more information.
