Shop LC relocates national headquarters,
makes $50 million capital investment in Cedar Park
The Cedar Park City Council approved a deal, as recommended by the City's Economic Development (Type 4A) Sales Tax Corporation, for Shop LC Global Inc., to move its national headquarters from the Austin area to Cedar Park. Shop LC is a television network and leading online retailer of jewelry and lifestyle products. The project will create 1,000 local jobs, making Shop LC Cedar Park's largest employer, plus they'll make a $50 million capital investment in our community with a 200,000 square-foot facility near East New Hope Drive and North Bell Boulevard (US 183), completed by September 30, 2024.

Design update on the new Cedar Park Public Library in the Bell District

The new Cedar Park Public Library in the Bell District is getting closer to being ready to start construction next fall! The project architects, LakeFlato, presented a design update to City Council at their Thursday November 18 meeting.

LakeFlato shared their renderings of the finished the schematic design. The new Library will be nestled among pecan trees and flow into the Bell District's Backyard, with dedicated outdoor space, a reading porch and so much more! They're now working on the design development. In early to mid-2022, they'll work on construction documents and permitting, then break ground in fall next year. The Library is anticipated to open in spring 2024.

City offices closed November 25 and 26 for Thanksgiving holidays

Save the Date: Bond Advisory Task Force (BATF) Open House December 8

Over the past few months, the Bond Advisory Task Force has been prioritizing Public Safety, Transportation, Parks and Recreation, and Public Facilities projectsito include in a recommendation report to City Council. At a future City Council meeting, Council will receive the report, review the recommendations and determine whether to call a future bond election.

Make plans to attend the BATF Open House in-person Wednesday, December 8, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. (come-and-go format) at the Cedar Park Recreation Center, or online for 24 hours. Either way, you'll be able to see what's on the BATF's preliminary project list-with-detailed-project-overviews and share your feedback. Event specifics coming soon at cedarparktexas.gov/batf.
The November 18, 2021 Regular Scheduled City Council Meeting was in a hybrid meeting format, with some City staff and some members of the public participating in a video conference call, that was streamed and broadcast live on our web and television channels.

Highlights included:
  • Appointment of Council Member Eric Boyce to Mayor Pro Tem position
  • Resolution authorizing City's participation in statewide opioid settlement agreement
  • First reading, public hearing of update to City ordinance to account for contracted annual rate adjustment for inflation and fuel increases, and specify monthly solid waste cart reimbursement, additional cart monthly administrative fees
