Official news about the City of Cedar Park from the City of Cedar Park.
City Trash Improvements
Beginning the week of March 1 , your trash and recycling pickup provider, Cedar Park Disposal, will be using a new automated, side-loading truck in most neighborhoods in Cedar Park. The automated truck will pick up items only in the cart and a secondary truck will pick up items outside the cart. Please note that in a few of the neighborhoods with alleys or exceptionally narrow streets, the automated side-loading truck cannot be used due to space limitations. In that case, your trash collection will continue as usual. See the map and list of neighborhoods here .

What do I need to do?
  • Set your carts out by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day.
  • Keep cart wheels to the curb.
  • Each cart must be a minimum of three feet from mailboxes, trees, utility poles, vehicles, your other cart and bulk items.
  • Do not place your cart under low wires.
Yard Trimmings Recycling March 23-May 1
Gather up those branches, leaves and grass to be recycled on your regular weekly trash day from March 23-May 1.
How does it work?
  • Yard trimmings can still be put out year-round, but will only be recycled March 23-May 1 and another time during the fall, exact dates to be determined. The rest of the year they go to the landfill.
  • Set yard trimmings out for recycling with your trash and other recycling by 7 a.m.
  • Bundle branches to weigh less than 50 pounds and be no more than four feet long and four inches in diameter.
  • Use as many paper lawn waste bags as needed for smaller trimmings. Plastic bags cannot be accepted for recycling.
  • No wet bags. They are too heavy and break too easily.
  • You will get a letter in the mail with your Utility Bill giving you all of this information.

Monarch Butterflies in Cedar Park
Did you know that Cedar Park is part of the Monarch Butterfly’s migration pattern? The butterflies make their way through our lovely city twice a year on their migration between Mexico and Canada. Unfortunately, the Monarch Butterfly population has decreased worldwide over the past two decades. We are proud to participate in the National Wildlife Federation’s Monarch Recovery Initiative. We limit the use of pesticide, limit mowing where possible in order to avoid destroying milkweed and other nectar plants, and plant milkweed in our City-owned parks and greenspace. Would you like to help preserve the Monarch Butterfly population in your neighborhood?  Find out more here .

Do you have a young artist? The Cedar Park Youth Art Contest is focusing on the Monarch Butterfly Recovery Initiative this year. Get all the information on how to enter your work of art here .
