Official news about the City of Cedar Park from the City of Cedar Park.
Welcome back, Council Member Stephen Thomas
The Cedar Park City Council welcomes Stephen Thomas to fill the unexpired term of Place One, vacated by Jim Penniman-Morin when he was elected Mayor in May. City Council unanimously appointed Council Member Thomas at its June 16 Special-Called Special-Called Meeting.

Council Member Thomas previously served on Council 2005-2009 and 2012-2019, and most recently chaired the Bond Advisory Task Force for the 2022 Bond Election, among other public service. He'll serve on Place One until voters choose a new Council Member in May 2023.
Reminder: please adhere to your two-designated-days-per-week outdoor watering restrictions
We get it. Our 100-plus-degrees days, combined with no recent significant rainfall and no rain in our forecast, means some lawns are getting, well, crunchy.

It also means it's now more important than ever to conserve water and adhere to your twice-per-week watering schedule for automatic irrigation and hose-end sprinkler watering:

  • Odd addresses water on Wednesdays and Saturdays
  • Even addresses water on Thursdays and Sundays
  • Commercial addresses water Tuesdays and Fridays
  • Watering hours are before 10 a.m. and after 7 p.m. - helpful hint: the cooler it is, the less water will evaporate while you're watering!
  • Remember: hand-watering and drip irrigation is allowed at any time under Stage Two.

If you haven't done so already, sign up for our free digital water meter portal. You can see your actual water usage in near-real-time, set alerts, detect leaks and more!
That's hot! (And not in a fun way.)
Seriously, take care during this weather ... that's hot

We're with you. We've all had enough of this unseasonably hot June. But the heat wave continues for the next several days.

We remind you to keep cool, drink plenty of water and check on the vulnerable - especially the elderly, disabled and children. If you must be outdoors, take breaks to cool off often.
Most fireworks illegal both inside and outside of City limits
Williamson County fireworks sellers have voluntarily pulled certain aerial fireworks from sale, due to drought conditions
The Cedar Park Fire Department applauds the fireworks industry's agreement with Williamson County to not sell certain aerial fireworks-this season, due to the fire risk created by the drought.

Because of the high risk, CPFD also wants to remind everyone that most fireworks are illegal both inside and outside City limits. Click here for more information. We instead encourage you to leave fireworks to the professionals at our July 4 Celebration!
Slide into summer

We ❤️ Cedar Park!

We want to take this opportunity to thank the Cedar Park community for helping us get the word out about Lifeguard recruitment. Like other communities around us, it was challenging to recruit enough lifeguards to allow all pools to be fully operational - but together, we did it! All three of our pools are now fully operational and staffed with trained and qualified Lifeguards. We ❤️ Cedar Park! #IHeartCP

Call for 3-dimensional, sculptural art
Selected works displayed in Cedar Park Sculpture Garden

Perhaps we should change our name to Cedar Art! That's because the City of Cedar Park has the first and largest Sculpture Garden to feature public art on a rotating basis, in Central Texas. Our Parks, Arts and Community Enrichment (PACE) Board is now issuing a call for artists to submit new works of art to be displayed in the Cedar Park Sculpture Garden. The PACE Board will accept entries of large-scale, free-standing and interactive sculptures and welcomes all artists. Learn more here.
