Vallejo, CA – The City of Vallejo Public Works Department has begun paving work this week as part of the S. Regatta Dr. & Capitol Street Grind and Overlay Rehabilitation Project, which includes roadway resurfacing, intersection improvements, and curb and gutter upgrades across multiple neighborhood locations.
Crews paved S. Regatta Drive from Glen Cove Parkway to 762 S. Regatta Drive, with work taking place yesterday, Thursday, September 24. Public Works expects to complete paving at this location before moving to the next segment of the project.
Work will also take place on Capitol Street from Sacramento Street to Sonoma Boulevard (SR‑29), along with grinding and paving improvements at several key intersections throughout the city. In addition to roadway resurfacing, Public Works will be upgrading curbs and gutters to improve roadway durability, stormwater flow, and compliance with federal accessibility standards.
Curb and gutter improvements play a crucial role in road preservation. These concrete edges help prevent asphalt from shifting or crumbling under daily traffic, and they ensure stormwater flows properly into drainage systems, reducing flood risk and preventing the erosion that leads to potholes. Additionally, under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), cities are required to install or upgrade curb ramps to meet ADA standards whenever streets are repaved. This project continues Vallejo’s commitment to building safer, more accessible, and more resilient infrastructure.
Intersections Scheduled for Grinding and Paving:
- Baywood Dr. & Fernwood Dr.
- Daniels Ave. & Rodgers St.
- Corcoran Ave. & Arrowhead Dr.
- Ensign Ave. & Shasta St.
- Daniels Ave. & Selfridge St.
- Nebraska St. & Shasta St.
- Ensign Ave. & Mariposa St.
- Glen Cove Pkwy. & N. Regatta Dr.

The City advises residents to expect temporary lane closures, traffic control, and minor delays in the work zones. Public Works thanks the community for its patience as crews complete these vital improvements.
