Today's the day! We are breaking ground on The Clove - the historic $150 million project will redevelop the former 22-acre Town Center site into a central mixed-use residential, commercial and entertainment hub in Buffalo Grove.


Come out and celebrate at today's groundbreaking ceremony at 6 p.m. in front of Giordano's. Hear from President Sussman, Village Manager Bragg and representatives from Kensington and Urban Street developers, followed by a reception with free mini burrito samples from future tenants Guzman y Gomez and sample pizza inside Giordano's. To access the event, use the NE property entrance behind Bowlero.

Crosswalk Relocation Project on Arlington Heights Road Near Buffalo Grove High School to Begin

Pedestrian safety improvement work will be underway beginning Monday, September 26, weather permitting, for those who cross Arlington Heights Road near Buffalo Grove High School. The existing crossing (roughly 500 feet north of Dundee Road) will be closed, and crews will install a new crossing with a pedestrian refuge island just north of Strathmore Court. Pedestrians should utilize the crossing at the Dundee Road intersection while construction is ongoing. Completion of the work will require temporary lane closures near the high school, one lane at a time, which will generally be limited to between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. This project is expected to last for three weeks

Fire Flow Testing Planned Next Week

Members of the Public Works Water Division will perform fire flow testing at various locations around the Village throughout the week of September 26. While similar to fire hydrant flushing, this testing helps determine the amount of water available in case of emergency. This testing is also used to create an insurance rating score that, when paired with available Fire Department services, results in favorable insurance premiums for homeowners and businesses.

Five-O Racing Supports Special Olympics

The BG Police Department is committed to raising funds for Special Olympics of Illinois. This Saturday, September 24, members of the Department will be participating in Five - O Racing at Grundy County Speedway in Morris. Come check out this stock car race with vehicles from various agencies decked out in their patrol colors and decals with flashing emergency lights! Events begin at 1:30 p.m. Please note: tickets can only be purchased at the door (cash only), and children 11 and under are free. Register to Vote in Upcoming Elections

The General Election is November 8, with early voting beginning October 11. The election includes candidates for governor as well as state and county elected offices. If you haven't registered to vote, now is the time! In addition, both Cook and Lake County are in need of election judges. Find more election information below:


Looking ahead, the Consolidated Election, with candidates running for local offices, will be held April 4, 2023. Open elected positions within the Village of Buffalo Grove will include Village President, three Village Trustee seats and Village Clerk. Candidates can begin circulating petitions by the end of this month. 

SAVE THE DATE: Document Shredding Event

The Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County is partnering with the Village to host a Document Destruction Event on Saturday, November 5 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Metra Parking Lot. Residents can bring up to six file-size boxes or paper grocery bags (no plastic bags) of sensitive paper documents containing personal information such as medical forms, bank statements, retired tax records or financial planning (address labels are not considered personal information).
