Greetings Trinkar,

Cape Breton is a terrific place to experience the autumn season. If you've been thinking about visiting this area, the spectacle of the season won't disappoint.

We have put in lots of time in our renewal projects around the Abbey, fixing cabins, upgrading some landscaping details, and hosting solitary retreatants this summer.

Good news - we are pleased to say that we now have enough people registered for the three-year retreat that we are firming up plans to schedule empowerments that will happen shortly before the retreat, beginning in fall 2024. For those who may have been humming and hawing about submitting an application...this could be the opportunity of a lifetime, send in your application.

You'll see below that we are delighted to announce that Pema Chödrön will be leading another traditional Yarne monastic retreat in the winter of 2024.

Turn Your World Around:

Three Steps for Emotional Transformation

Begins October 2023

What if the source of our greatest pain was also the source of our greatest possibility?

What if instead of running from our challenging emotions, we could develop tools to engage with them? It’s not about getting rid of emotions, it’s about coming to know them well. Having the courage to work with the feelings we’d rather avoid can be a path to personal transformation and positive change in the world.

Join Ani Pema for this life-changing online retreat, originally presented to the monastic community at Gampo Abbey, and facilitated in this online format by seasoned practitioners from the Abbey.

Life, Death and Three-Year Retreat

"Thinking of the long retirement my parents had anticipated sharing, my father said tearfully, “This wasn’t how it was supposed to be”– a statement that propelled me not to take 'later' for granted."

Sharon Keegan reflects on how it was the reality of death in her life that propelled her to take seriously this precious opportunity to engage with deep retreat.

Gampo Abbey exists only through generosity

Since the time of the Buddha's first monastic sangha, there has been a potent karmic connection between monastics and supporters in the lay community.

Likewise, here at Gampo Abbey, our monastic community and the programs we offer, are only possible because of your generous donations. We appreciate your support a great deal.
