| | A Message from Pastor Scott | | |
This Sunday we have a very special guest preacher, Dr. Tammy Dunahoo, Dean of Portland (George Fox) Seminary. Matt and I have come to know Tammy over the past few years and appreciate her insight into the church and vision for its ministry. Tammy is ordained in the Four Square church where she has served as a pastor, church planter, and denominational leader before taking her position at the seminary.
Tammy will bring a fresh perspective on the scripture as she unpacks the story of reconciliation from John 8, where Jesus meets and shows mercy to the woman accused of adultery.
Come and join us this Sunday as we celebrate, worship, and connect to God and with one another.
Grace and Peace,
Scott
Read John 8:1-11 in preparation for worship.
| | A Sabbatical Update from Pastor Matt | | |
CPC Friends,
Hello from Colorado! I just wanted to shoot you a quick message to let you know that we are doing well and hope you all are too. We do miss you all. I wanted to express again my thankfulness for allowing us to have this time away. It is a generous policy and I think essential for pastoral health and plain old joy. So, thank you. I am praying for you regularly. We recently got to visit with Fitz and Laurel Neal (I said hello on your behalf)! We have just completed a few wonderful days at Rocky Mountain National Park as a family. It was a wonderful reminder of the splendor of God’s Creation and provision. Here are a few photos of our adventures.
Blessings on all of you!
Pastor Matt

GIFT Bible Study
Tuesdays beginning September 9
9:30AM
Chapel
An exciting year is planned for the Tuesday morning GIFT Bible study group. We’ll start off the year with a 12-week study on “Daring Women of the Bible.” A study about real women, real trials and real triumphs; it offers valuable insights for our current lives. The videos are led by various popular leaders with some of our favorites and also new faces. Women of all ages are welcome and childcare is provided.
| | Associate Pastor Nominating Committee Update | | |
We are currently interviewing some promising candidates for the Associate Pastor position. By the end of the week, we should have finished initial interviews with potential candidates. Then, we will need to narrow our field. Please pray for that process and that God is leading us in discernment toward who He is calling to fill this role at CPC.
APNC Members: Erin Endreson, Marilyn Kimble, Steve Martin, Jeff Ovall, Brian Randolph, Mary Buckheister Smith, Ben Stimmel, Aaron Villanueva, and Julie Wilcox.

Backpacks for Mac is Here!
Hey CPC it’s that time of year when we kick off our Backpacks for Mac drive. This is a joyful and important annual event in our ongoing partnership with Marshall Elementary and McLoughlin Middle School. We hope to collect as many new backpacks and shoes as possible so that we can have them sorted, stocked, and ready for pick up during back-to-school and orientation events in August.
Here are the priorities for this year’s back-to-school drive:
1. BACKPACKS!
2. Other school supplies: colored pencils, composition notebooks, highlighters, student
pencil sharpeners
3. NOT needed: pencils
4. You may financially contribute to support both schools by giving to CPC
and designating “Marshall/McLoughlin Ministry” in the memo line
We will also be collecting new athletic shoes (suitable for running, gym, and PE classes). Men’s size 7-9; women’s size 5-8. Shoes are a constant need at Mac and having actual shoes on-site makes it easier to distribute them to families as needed.
Backpack boxes will be located in both the CPC Gathering Area and the Church Office beginning this Sunday. Let’s fill them up with backpacks and shoes for Marshall and Mac students!
Additionally, contact Julie Mauer or Nancy Johns if you are interested in learning more about volunteering at Marshall or MAC. If you have a heart for students, there is a place for you!
