A Message from Pastor Matt

Columbia Friends,

It’s a beautiful day in the Pacific Northwest again. I couldn’t be more thankful for it. Some days the weather matches your mood and some days the good weather is exactly what you need to soften the blow of whatever you are dealing with. Today I am thankful that the weather largely matches my mood. In my office I can hear our staff interacting and the Clark College athletes engaged in one of their quarterly “max days.” On these days they are particularly loud and energetic. Additionally, I can hear one of our front desk volunteers talking with folks as they call in. Most recently, Open House Ministries was calling in to invite us to participate in an event they have going on. At the same time I am fielding texts from folks who have things that they want to celebrate or that they need prayer for. All of these things are signs of Christ for me. Signs that, if I am listening, give me clues to what Jesus is up to right in our midst.

I bring that up because this Sunday we will be looking at a Bible passage where Jesus is right at the center of what is going on. It is another encouraging story where Jesus is both bringing people together and sending them out at the same time. And He is in the middle of it all. And we are going to talk about that this Sunday - how sometimes His presence calls us outward and sometimes He draws us together to encourage one another. But, one thing is certain. Whether He is drawing us in or sending us out, He is at the center of it all.

I hope you will join us this Sunday. It will be a good reminder for all of us.

Pastor Matt

P.S. - We have an exciting baptism taking place at the 9:00 service! One of our Mowtown families who live in the Beacon House is having all three of their children baptized. It will likely be our very first bilingual baptism.

Read John 20:15-23 to prepare for this week's message.

APNC Update

The APNC Needs You!

Currently, the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee (APNC), is putting together a job description and a description of our church to submit to Session. Once this information has been reviewed and approved, we will submit it to the PC(USA) database. This process takes time and requires patience.

What do we need from you? Prayer. Prayer that the pieces come together. Prayer that we would be confident that God has called us to this process. Prayer that He will use it to help us find the Associate Pastor He will call to minister at CPC.

Announcements

This Sunday, May 4, a photographer will be at Columbia capturing photos during and between worship services for an upcoming website refresh. We'd love to include you, but if you prefer your photo not be used, just let us know by emailing Katie Mrochko. Thank you for helping us share the life of our church community!
