| | A Message from Pastor Matt | | |
Columbia Friends,
I am so excited for this Sunday because it is Pentecost! You may not exactly know what Pentecost is. More of you may not fully understand why it matters. Some of you may call it the birthday of the church, but it is way more than that. Pentecost is really a day that helps us understand the power of the Holy Spirit and that the Resurrection (which we have been celebrating) is just part of the story of how God is rescuing the world! A significant clue as to how God will do His rescue work is revealed on Pentecost. It is a day of fire, flame, joy, and bewilderment.
We certainly have lots to celebrate in our church’s life right now. We have had births, beautiful memorial services, baptisms, days of service, and new members joining the Body of Christ and publicly professing their faith! But, none of that is possible without the work of Christ and His ongoing presence through the work of the Holy Spirit! I hope you will come this Sunday just to focus on why this day matters so, so much. It is the most neglected day of the Christian year. We don’t have any special announcements this Sunday or dramatic events happening because we don’t need them on Pentecost. I am planning a BBQ and a bonfire at my house with my family for the evening! Wear something red, yellow, or orange IF you can!
See you there!
Pastor Matt

The Deacons are preparing for their second annual Summer Food Boxes distribution for 60 local families through partnerships with The Family Community Resource Centers of Marshall Elementary, McLoughlin Middle School, and The Heights Campus. Sermon Translation Services
We want everyone to feel welcomed, included, and able to participate fully in worship. We are now offering AI-powered translation services of the sermon in Spanish, Korean, and English. By scanning a QR code with your smartphone, you can select your preferred language and follow along with translated text in real time. Audio translation is also available when using headphones. We hope this tool helps remove language barriers and makes it easier for more people to connect, worship, and grow together. Brochures with instructions are available at the Welcome Center.
