A Message from Pastor Scott

Friends,

Last Saturday some of our men gathered for a retreat at George Fox University. Our speaker, Brian Craker, helped us to see how God can change the story of our lives from one of disappointment and defeat, to one of flourishing vitality. We looked at the life of Gideon, a young lad from the most insignificant family, clan, and tribe. God called and used Gideon in a mighty way. We may see ourselves as small and insignificant too, but God can change the narrative of our lives.

God is always making things new; this is the good news of the gospel. We can see new things coming forth in the lives of the disciples when Jesus appears to them and transforms the narrative of defeat to one of redemption. This week we will see how Jesus does this with Peter, on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, when he gives Peter a threefold commission to love Him by “feeding” the people whom God has placed in his care. Peter’s self-defeating narrative is radically changed by this encounter.

The self-defeating narrative of our lives can also be changed. Do you believe this? Come and gather with other brothers and sisters this Sunday and see if God can do a new thing in your life!

Read John 21:15-19 in preparation for worship.

Grace and Peace,

Scott

Senegal Ministry

Witness What God is Doing in Senegal

God is doing amazing things through CPC’s Christian ministry partners in Senegal. Go Teams have seen many Glimpses of God during their trips that they have shared during their annual post-trip congregational communication sessions. If what you heard from previous Go Team trips has you wanting to personally witness what is going on in His name in Senegal, please prayerfully consider applying to become a member of the 2026 Go Team. For those interested, here are important dates to be aware of as the information and application processes begin in June.

  • Informational Q&A sessions to learn more about the trip and about the country of Senegal. Dates are to be determined.
  • Go Team applications to be submitted by July 20.
  • Interviews and team selection to be completed by August 15.

More details on the time and location of the Q&A sessions will be posted in the Columbia Weekly and the bulletin. In the meantime, if you have any questions, you can reach out to the Senegal Team and someone from the team will get back with you.
