Native Plant Flower Garden

We installed our native plant butterfly garden. We had a dozen church members dig, plant, transplant 100 native flowers, grasses and sedges. The intention besides beautifying the church grounds is to educate the community on the importance of planting natives to sustain our ecosystem. People interested more in native plant gardening can check out Home - Homegrown National Park. This is an initiative begun by Doug Tallamy. Doug was a speaker at last year's Living Water Association sponsored environmental event with Federated Church. Karen Wagner has donated a book by him, that is in the church library for all to learn more. Funding for this project was provided by the Building and Grounds Committee. A huge thanks to that committee for making this happen!

LCC Volunteer Opportunities

LCC's Community Meal

We will be offering our monthly

Community Meal

Thursday, June 1

Our community meal was distributed on Thursday, May 4. With the encouragement of Susan Walker, we provided a spaghetti dinner, garlic, bread, fresh salad, and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies were made by Vicki Smigelski, and Joanne Ritschel. It took quite a village to prepare and assemble this meal – our team consisted of Donna Leisinger, Doug Horner, Nancy Fraunfelder, Paula Deal, John Kasper, Bob, Paraska, and Peggy Shaw. We had 25 people attend and all of our meals were taken.

Our committee always has a good time with this ministry, and we encourage other church members or friends, to join us!

Food delivery services have changed since the onset of Covid. If you have the means to donate, two local organizations that could be donated to are the Cleveland Food Bank and the Lakewood Community Service Center.

Each first Sunday of the month is our dedicated Hunger Sunday.

There are Hunger Envelopes at the back of the Sanctuary for your donation towards this LCC Ministry.
