This Sunday, we continue our summer sermon series, Hope Has Wings, by exploring the surprising story of the quail in the wilderness. As the Israelites longed for the comforts of their former lives, God responded in an unexpected way, inviting them to discover the difference between satisfying our appetites and finding true freedom.

To help you engage more deeply with the series, we've created a companion meditation and reflection guide. Digital and print copies are available, offering weekly Scripture readings, reflections, and opportunities for prayer throughout the series.

Join us next Sunday, July 5, as we welcome our new Director of Children's Ministry, Meghan Watson! Following our combined 10:00am Worship in the Fellowship Hall, we'll gather for popsicles on the patio to celebrate Meghan's beginning at Hayes Barton.

Come enjoy a sweet treat, introduce yourself, and extend a warm welcome to Meghan — if you're curious, her favorite popsicle flavor is cherry 🍒! Meghan shared that what she's most looking forward to is becoming part of the Hayes Barton community and helping to guide our children as they grow in faith.

As we celebrate Meghan, we also offer our heartfelt gratitude to Kimberly Powers for her faithful service as Interim Director of Children's Ministry. Over the past ten months, Kimberly has brought joy, care, and exceptional organization to our children's ministry, and we are deeply grateful for her leadership and dedication during this season of transition.

Congratulations to Pastor Lindsey on her recent commissioning as a deacon in the United Methodist Church. With this achievement, she moves from lay staff to clergy and continues her role leading spiritual formation at Hayes Barton. A deacon is a clergy member called to a lifelong ministry of Word, Service, Compassion, and Justice. After completing a two-year period of continued work and ministry, Lindsey will be eligible for full ordination in June 2028.

Congratulations to our UMW Scholarship Recipients!

Our two recipients this year are Elizabeth Fortier (left) and Paige Currin (right). They will each receive a $1,000 grant. Thank you to all the applicants for the UMW Scholarship.

Our committee reviewed many inspiring applications this year, each demonstrating the remarkable potential and dedication of the young women of our church.

Join Pastor Lindsey virtually on Wednesdays at noon during July and August for a guided Examen prayer gathering. The Examen is a simple contemplative prayer practice that helps us reflect on where we have noticed God’s presence and invitation in our daily lives.

No prep needed - there’s nothing to read, bring, or study ahead of time. Simply log in and be guided through a gentle time of prayer and reflection. Each gathering will last approximately 15-30 minutes, making it easy to participate even on a busy day. Whether you’ve been practicing the Examen for years or you’ve never heard of it before, you’re invited to join us! 



The virtual format makes it easy to participate from your lunch break, while traveling this summer, or wherever you may be. Attend as you’re able; you can join any week without needing to attend them all.

Looking for some great summer reading and a chance to connect with others at Hayes Barton? Join us for one (or all!) of our Summer Book Club gatherings. Each one-and-done discussion will be led by a different pastor, meeting from 5:00–6:30pm at the church. Simply read, show up ready to share your thoughts, and enjoy a fun way to engage your mind and spirit this summer.

Have you ever wondered what pastors actually study in seminary?

This summer, join us for Summer Seminary, a six-week series of standalone classes held during the Sunday School hour in the Fellowship Hall. Each week, a different pastor will offer an accessible, engaging introduction to a seminary-style topic, including how pastors study scripture and prepare sermons, the meaning behind our sacred spaces and stained glass windows, why we worship the way we do, and how to develop more compassionate listening and companionship skills. No sign-up or preparation needed, just come as you are ready to learn and connect with others!
