Although Commitment Sunday was on October 5, it’s not too late to participate! You can still make your pledge online here or return your pledge card.
As of November 6th, we have received 321 pledges totaling $2.08M toward our $3.5M goal. Every gift moves us closer to fulfilling our mission and sustaining the vibrant ministries that make HBUMC a place of hope, love, and service.

After 24 years of dedicated service as HBUMC's financial assistant, Tricia Ligon has retired. Though we will miss her, we celebrate her ministry among us and wish her the very best in retirement!
Jessie Barringer succeeds Tricia in the role of financial assistant. We welcome her to our staff!

Gorgeous fresh poinsettias and Christmas Cactuses are provided by Cyn Mar Wholesale Florist and Greenhouse—the same trusted local grower that supplies beautiful Christmas greenery to Logan’s Garden Shop. There’s a lot happening in our youth ministry this weekend! Regular activities (UMYF & JOY Class) will be paused to make room for some exciting opportunities:
-
Friday, November 7: Youth will help volunteer at our Kids’ Movie Night. Email Kimberly Powers to get signed up.
- November 7-9: A group of ten students & adult leaders will be heading out on our Youth Pilgrimage Trip in Rocky Mount, NC.
- Sunday, November 9: Our Confirmation Class will take part in a Worship Field Trip to visit Wilson Temple UMC, Christ Church Episcopal, or Church on Morgan.
It’s a full and meaningful weekend - thank you for all the ways our youth are showing up to serve, grow, and connect! Contact Claire with any questions!

Outreach Spotlight: Belong NC
Belong NC works to ensure that all North Carolinians—especially those with disabilities—have the opportunity to live, work, and thrive in inclusive communities. By connecting individuals and families with resources and advocacy, they help make belonging possible for everyone. Our church is proud to support their mission of creating a more welcoming and equitable North Carolina. Watch the video here or click below to learn more about their impact.
| | The pumpkins that beautifully adorned our church this fall have gone to a very good home! Member Julia Berry took several of them to feed her “spoiled rotten” goats, who were delighted with the tasty treat. Julia shared that her goats—Hank and friends—may not provide milk or cheese, but they make up for it with plenty of hugs, kisses, and personality. Check out the photos below to see their pumpkin feast in action! | | If you need help, or for more information, please email Amy Piland! | | |
