This Sunday is Commitment Sunday as we celebrate our 90th anniversary and make our 2027 stewardship pledges. For 90 years, generations of faithful people have made our worship, discipleship, care, and outreach possible. Now, as we look toward the next chapter, we’re invited to continue that legacy.
Our 2027 stewardship goal is $3.1 million, and every pledge helps us plan faithfully and carry Hayes Barton’s ministry forward for generations to come. Our stewardship theme, Living the Red Letter Life, connects directly with this Sunday’s message as our Red Letter Christians series turns to generosity. Through Jesus’ parable of the rich fool, we’ll consider what it means to put his words into action and to measure abundance not by what we accumulate, but by how we live generously toward God and one another.
During worship, we’ll celebrate Holy Communion and bring our commitment cards forward together.

Elementary Homework Help Is Back!
We’re returning to Refugee Hope Partners for another afternoon of Elementary Homework Help on Thursday, October 8, from 4:15–6:00pm.
This opportunity is specifically for first-time volunteers who weren’t able to join us last time. It’s a great way to experience the program, spend one-on-one time helping an elementary-aged student with homework, and see if this might be a place you’d like to serve regularly.
Space is limited to 10 volunteers, so sign up soon!
| Sunday, November 1 is All Saints' Sunday, a day when we remember our brothers and sisters in Christ who've entered eternal life in the past year. In all three worship services, we'll have a procession of candle-bearers as we speak aloud the names of our departed. Instructions will be provided. Thank you for helping us honor those we've loved who now rest in the eternal arms. | |
Led by Executive Director Laurie Harrell, Wee Care provides free preschool education to 20 children (ages 2 to kindergarten) in two of our Hayes Barton classrooms, setting them up for lifelong learning success. During those years, children are surrounded and taught critical skills to prepare them for elementary school so they can succeed in a learning environment.
How you can help: We're collecting food staples so WeeCare students can take home weekend food backpacks!

God, slow me down to the pace of reverence,
open my eyes to the light of reverence.
Tune my ears to the frequency of reverence.
Move my hands with the grace of reverence.
May I live with reverence and delight,
with compassion, receptivity, and love.
May my life be a reverent offering to you. Amen.
