Opportunities to Serve

St. Lloyd Presbyterian Church Cemetery Clean-Up Day: Saturday, February 25

The St. Lloyd Presbyterian Church Cemetery is a locally large and well-preserved burial site of African Americans that contains graves dating from roughly 1868 until about 1926. The St. Lloyd Presbyterian Church cemetery is the only surviving remnant of St. Lloyd Presbyterian Church, a Christian congregation that established its own house of worship in response to the newly-gained liberation of African Americans from bondage. Last year, Sardis members joined others from the community and the Presbytery of Charlotte for a clean up day and invite you to join us once again, on Saturday, February 25 at 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. For more information, click here. If you'd like to join the team, email Andy Lankford.

Volunteer in the Nursery

The nursery is open for both the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. worship services and we need your help to keep it running smoothly! We're so excited about our new nursery location, the former Resource Room next to the Adult Library, and hope that you'll check it out! Sign up to volunteer here! Contact Sarah Dianne Jones with any questions.

Church Life News & Announcements

Thank You From Families Forward Charlotte

Dear Sardis,

It was an honor to be with you a couple of weeks ago at your Sardis Serves Together day. I really appreciate Rev. Allysen's thoughtful approach to sharing about mission and how to intentionally and respectfully serve our community. And I cherish the time spent with each of you to share our mission, the reason our organization exists, and how you can serve with Families Forward Charlotte.

Our staff has already begun distributing Essentials Baskets and Weekend Food Packs that you took the time to carefully pack and transport to our Program Center. Families in our program are excited to have these supplies and the relief on their household budget that these items provide.

I am grateful for our continued partnership as we work together to empower families in our community to overcome intergenerational poverty!  ~Carrie Christian, Executive Director, Families Forward Charlotte~

WAM Children Share Their Gifts In Worship

It's always a gift to be led in worship by our children! Thanks to our WAM kids for sharing their offerings to God in worship this past Sunday! If your child wants to join us for Worship, Art, & Music (WAM) on Sunday evenings, contact Sarah Dianne Jones for more information.

Room In The Inn Volunteer Day

On Sunday, February 12, Sardis adults and children participated in the Volunteer Day with our Room in the Inn ministry. Volunteers decorated the Sardis House for a Super Bowl party, made appetizers, made beds, placed welcome cards on each bed and packed lunches, all to share God’s love and welcome with our neighbors experiencing homelessness that stay overnight at the Sardis House.

Here’s how this event impacted both our Sardis parents and children as well as our RITI neighbors:

RITI neighbors shared that they loved the decorations and the extra appetizer snacks with dinner. Our neighbors said, “this feels really special” and that it was a “very fun Super Bowl.” Several neighbors enjoyed watching the game with Sardis volunteers Glenn and Sallie Crossley who offered an extra thanks to all of the families that decorated, “it made a difference.”

Our Church Family

Our Sympathy: to the family of Norma Burton; and to the family of Catherine Marsh.

Your church family wants to pray for you. If you have a procedure or are in the hospital, please let the church office know so we can, as a church family, be praying your healing.
