Opportunities to Serve

Recycle Your Old Batteries at Sardis

Batteries are all around you…in your smoke detectors, cameras, toys, watches, handheld electronics, hearing aids and more! Your neighbors and friends are all around you too! Please share with them that Sardis is running a battery collection service project and encourage them to join in!

“Gather what ye may” and bring yours and your friends' and neighbors’ used batteries to our recycling kiosk located in the back hall near the Library of the Education Hall!

Recycling batteries benefits everyone by keeping potentially dangerous materials out of landfills!

Love the Earth? Love Worship?

You are just the person to serve on the Earth Care Worship Team. We need volunteers to help us plan an Earth Day worship service for April 21. Please consider joining the group planning that service. For information, contact Ed Shoaf.

Adult Mission Trip - Register Today

March 2 -9, 2024, a combined group from Sardis and Trinity Presbyterian Churches will be traveling to assist with disaster relief work due to damage by tornados in Kentucky. Our group of adults (ages 18 years+) will be doing home repair (not new construction work) through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance with host, Calvert City Presbyterian Church. 1-2 spots will be available to those who wish to meal prep instead of participating in home repair. Registration is open. The cost will be $125 per person.

Room In The Inn Is Underway!

Room In The Inn is a Charlotte-wide ministry through Roof Above where churches and volunteers help provide shelter, food, and friendship for our neighbors experiencing homelessness in the winter months. Sardis is hosting our neighbors in the Sardis House three nights a week through March. We need folks to help provide meals, prepare lunch bags, and make the beds ahead of time. This is a great way to serve together with RITI and involve young children, youth, or multiple generations of your family. Sign up here!

Be A Welcoming Face in the Nursery

If you would like to join our talented usher pool to serve as an usher when you’re available, please sign up here or contact Terry Dawson or Coddy Coddington. It is a great way to get involved and meet fellow members and friends.

Be A Welcoming Face in the Nursery

Nursery Volunteers are needed! While we have SitterTree covering care in our nursery, it is still very important and needed to have Sardis members volunteer to assist them in the nursery while offering a familiar face and helping provide visitors with a warm welcome and helpful information. We hope you'll look at your calendar and visit our SignUpGenius to sign-up for any dates and times you can give to be a welcoming face in the nursery. Questions or need assistance signing up? Contact Amanda Hooks (704.787.5353).

Worship and Music Conference

Worship and Music Conference is for all ages (grades 3 - adults). From June 16 - June 22 we will spend a week in the mountains at Montreat! For a week children and youth are immersed in music, scripture, worship, games, and community. Adults (even non musicians) have many opportunities to engage in Bible studies, worship conversations, art, and sessions that dive into faith outside of Sunday mornings. There are music sessions as well! We will spend the week engaging in intentional community, worshipping and sharing meals each day as well as evening activities designed to bring us together. Spots are open for all ages! Reach out to Kaitlyn Davros if you’re interested in more information, including costs, or seeing how your whole family (even under grade 3) can participate.
