- February   2019 -

Dear Friends,

Leadership Harrisburg Area joins local social services providers to help ensure that people have shelter, especially during this extreme cold.  In Harrisburg, the City shelters that require an application process are at capacity.  To our knowledge, the following walk-in shelters listed below can still accommodate people in need.  In addition, many of these shelters are seeking donations such as new socks & underwear for men; single use hand & feet warmers; lip care items; individual packs of tissues; travel sized Vaseline; and individually packaged snack items.  Items should be delivered directly to the locations.

FOR MEN:
Susquehanna Harbor Safe Haven Winter Overnight Safe Haven for Men at 1805 N. 12th Street, Harrisburg.
Doors are open from 8:00pm-10:00pm. Guests are expected to be out by 7am the next morning.
Downtown Daily Bread Emergency Night Shelter for Men at 234 South Street, Harrisburg. Doors are open from 7:30pm-8:30pm. Guests are expected to be out by 7am the next morning.
Bethesda Mission Extreme Weather Overflow at 611 Reily Street, Harrisburg. Doors are open from 8:00pm-9:00pm. Guests are expected to be out by 6:30am the next morning.

FOR WOMEN:
YWCA of Greater Harrisburg Winter Overnight Shelter at 1101 Market Street, Harrisburg.
Doors are open from 8:00pm-9:30pm. Guests are expected to be out by 7:00am the next morning.

According to  Christian Churches United of the Tri-County Area , every effort will be made to ensure that people have a place to sleep on these extreme weather nights. They say that if you are worried about someone's safety in the cold after hours or at any time, call 911 if an emergency, or contact Crisis Intervention at (717) 232-7511.
Thank you!
