Dear Friends,

Actress, author, beloved singer, businesswoman, hall of famer, humanitarian, global icon, grammy awardee, philanthropist, playwright, and song writer. Millions of tributes will celebrate Dolly Parton's extraordinary accomplishments. They will recount her awards, her record-breaking career, her business success, and her lasting influence on music and culture. Some tributes may miss the two most important words that describe Dolly’s life. She was a servant leader.

Servant leaders measure success not by what they gain, but by what they give. By that standard, Dolly Parton was among the greatest leaders of our time. She lived the principles of servant leadership every day.

She chose compassion over judgment.

She loved people without boundaries or conditions.

She always found a bright side.

She worked tirelessly in her pursuits.

She worked even harder to lift others along the way.

Her generosity was beyond compare – and often without recognition.

She balanced her own brand of confidence with true humility.

She never took herself too seriously.

She followed her dreams while paving the way for others.

She inspired millions just by being who she was.

Dolly said, "I never have considered myself a perfectionist, but I do think of myself as a professionalist. I always strive simply to be my very best." Her very best enriched countless lives, including mine.

In Dolly’s honor, let’s remember her example of leading with kindness, generosity, humility, and joy in our community service activities. While no one can replace her, each of us can honor her legacy by serving others and making Central PA a little more sparkly every day!

Grief Talks - The Highmark Caring Place

44th Annual Hummelstown Arts Festival

The festival offers something for everyone with more than 150 juried artists, a food court, children’s area and live entertainment. Music will be provided all day by DJ Bill Runkle, and Studio 22 will perform at 10 AM and the Hershey School of Dance will perform at 1 PM on the square. The children’s area will have a variety of free activities for families including a caricature artist (10 AM – 1 PM), balloon art animals (12 PM – 3:30 PM) , face painting by Lower Dauphin High School National Art Honor Society students, along with crafts by Hummelstown Parks & Recreational Board. Seeking Volunteers: Family Promise of Harrisburg Capital Region

Family Promise HCR provides shelter for families experiencing homelessness. We need volunteers to: Drive the 15-passenger van at 6 a.m., and 7 p.m. The van transports the resident families to a local congregation where they will spend the night. Make meals for the families. A profile will be provided with number of people, allergies and likes. The meals can be delivered ahead of time and frozen or anytime before 5:30 a.m. the day of sign up. Grief Support Group Openings

Do you know someone who is looking for grief support? The Highmark Caring Place offers free peer support to children and families who have experienced the death of someone important in their lives. It provides a safe and understanding environment where grieving children and families can connect with others who share similar experiences. The Caring Place has immediate openings in our upcoming peer support groups for grieving children and families at our Camp Hill Center. Our support groups are no-cost, not insurance-based, and available whether a loss is recent or has occurred some time ago. These groups provide peer support for both adults and children. For onsite groups, at least one grieving child and one adult must attend, but additional family members can join as well. Create Your Community Grant

The MyHBG Create Your Community Grant Program (MyHBG Program) provides funding for small‑scale, low‑cost, community-driven projects that enhance downtown public spaces, improve safety, and/or strengthen neighborhood identity of downtown Harrisburg. The program empowers residents, nonprofits, and local businesses to test creative ideas that make downtown streets and public spaces more vibrant, inclusive, people-centered, and community-oriented. Projects can be located anywhere in the city, but applicants are encouraged to consider projects located downtown. Priority may be given to projects that are located downtown or strengthen the connection between a community to downtown. Standard grants will range between $500 to $2,500. Grants exceeding $2,500 may be awarded if the applicant demonstrates significant project impact and deliverability. (Click the Graphic for Details)

Grant Opportunity: The Foundation For Enhancing Communities

TFEC Community Impact Grants support nonprofit organizations working to strengthen communities across South Central Pennsylvania. Through this grant opportunity, TFEC seeks to strengthen community capacity by investing in local non-profit organizations and partnerships that drive measurable impact and long-term sustainability to address diverse needs in communities. By supporting initiatives that increase access to services, enhance collaboration and align local resources around shared goals, the grant opportunity empowers communities to address pressing challenges with locally informed, data-driven solutions. Emphasis is placed on strategies that generate lasting outcomes—such as strengthened organizational infrastructure (i.e. strategic plans and measurable outcomes), sustainable strategies, and equitable community-wide benefit—ensuring that benefits extend well beyond the grant period and create enduring positive change. The Community Impact Grant is available to organizations of all sizes, budgets and reaches. This competitive grant is open to nonprofit organizations whose proposed projects serve Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, or Perry Counties and the Dillsburg Area of Northern York County.
