Greetings!

We hope your summer is going well, and that you are enjoying some sunshine and those extra hours of daylight.  Our training year is over, but we are hard at work planning our calendar for next year.  In the meantime, enjoy this look back at our year, and be sure to check out our partner events and resources!

Keep an eye out for our newsletter in August, which will highlight our schedule for the upcoming year and contain exciting announcements about our Cohort applications for 2020!

Thanks to generous funding from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, our trainings are always free.

A SNAPSHOT OF THIS YEAR
 THIS YEAR WE...

This year, we offered eleven unique trainings to public health workers, coalition members and leaders, educators, administrators, community organizers, and more.  We reached people across the state of Massachusetts and all over the United States with our online trainings.  We talked about a range of topics, from health in all policies and health equity to social media and empowering youth voices in public health efforts.  We explored community organizing and coalition buy-in, and delved into best practices for creating change in your communities.  And, we continually challenged ourselves to create content that was new, interesting, and meaningful for our audiences.

Additionally, we piloted a  Health Equity Cohort, inviting 40 participants from across the state to join us in a learning network of professionals seeking to advance health equity work in their respective fields.  Participants completed two in-person and one online training, as well as two networking sessions between each training, and came out of the Cohort feeling empowered to continue this challenging work.

Lori Lobenstine (left) and Mo Barbosa (right) led our Health Equity Cohort series.

Participants explored how different ideas and social arrangements effect health outcomes in their communities.

Thank you  for a wonderful year, and for being a part of our community.  We hope to see you all in this coming training year!

RESOURCE SPOTLIGHT

The Greenfield Commonwealth Virtual School, an online public school of choice, serves students from across Massachusetts who need a learning community that is accessible and flexible. They give their students and their families choices in what, how, when, and where they learn, and students are taught by caring state-certified teachers. From online lessons for K-12 students to virtual learning designed to give middle and high school the maximum in flexibility, their programs are tuition-free and available to all Massachusetts residents. That includes their new 100% online Dual Enrollment program, in which motivated high school students can earn college credit and even an accredited associate's degree by the time they graduate.

As an online, public school of choice, they work with local and state agencies, medical providers, and other public schools to make sure students can benefit from a high-quality Massachusetts education, no matter their circumstances.
