Dear Community Partners,

Welcome to the August edition of The Compass Point, the monthly e-newsletter from Compass Health.

During the last month, we've seen several partnerships take off and bring our communities together. One of these partnerships involves our Community Transitions Team and the Lynnwood Police Department. This partnership embeds a licensed mental health professional with a law enforcement officer and provides community engagement and outreach services to those who need it. We are very thankful to Verdant Health Commission for their funding and support of this program. You can read more about it below.

We also had the opportunity to host Governor Jay Inslee, First Lady Trudi Inslee, Washington State Senator June Robinson, and Washington State Representative Emily Wicks at our new supportive housing building in Everett. It was an honor to lead these elected officials through a building that they championed and advocated for alongside us. I want to thank each of them for coming to Everett to tour the building and for all the work they've done for Compass Health.

GOVERNOR JAY INSLEE VISITS NEW SUPPORTIVE HOUSING BUILDING

Governor Inslee, his wife First Lady Trudi Inslee, State Senator June Robinson, and Washington State Representative Emily Wicks, stopped by our new supportive housing building a few weeks ago for a first-hand tour.

They also heard from a new resident and the impact this building is already having on his life.

COMPASS HEALTH EMBEDS MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL WITH LYNNWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT

Compass Health and the Lynnwood Police Department have implemented Compass Health’s Community Transitions Program, embedding a mental health professional with the Lynnwood Police Department Community Health and Safety Section. This partnership aims to reduce high-frequency use of emergency services by responding to community members at risk in Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace.

This partnership aims to meet people where they’re at and connect them with the appropriate resources, whether that’s medical care or mental health or substance use treatment, transportation, or food assistance.

This partnership is made possible through Compass Health, the Verdant Health Commission, the Lynnwood Police Department, and the City of Mountlake Terrace.

SAN JUAN COUNTY CELEBRATES FIRST DRUG COURT GRADUATE

The San Juan County Drug Court (SJCDC) was launched in 2019 as a therapeutic program designed to reduce substance abuse and criminal recidivism and increase rehabilitation and community safety.

This past July, the SJCDC celebrated its first graduate to complete the program. The individual is 2 years sober and emerged from the program a more confident and mature young man.

This program is made possible through the support of Compass Health, local law and justice partners, and the community.
