Welcome to the July edition of The Compass Point, the monthly e-newsletter from Compass Health. I hope you all are having a great start to your summer – and are getting the chance to explore the great hikes, parks, restaurants, and neighborhoods that make the PNW home.

I’m excited to share that our Building Communities of Hope Gala is coming back this year and will be hosted in-person at the Tulalip Resort Casino. The Gala supports our children, youth and family programs – services that have met critical needs for decades – and provided valuable support over the past 18 months when families needed us most. We are taking all necessary precautions to ensure a safe and fun event, and we are also offering a live-stream option. We will provide more updates as we get closer to the event.

We’re also highlighting two very important issues in this newsletter and on our blog this month: Minority Mental Health Month and Social Wellness Month. We know that our care needs to reflect the diversity and dignity of the communities we serve, and we wanted to share important resources and information to bring awareness to these events.

SAVE THE DATE: THE BUILDING COMMUNITIES OF HOPE GALA IS BACK!

After a whirlwind of a year, we’re excited to bring back Compass Health’s annual Building Communities of Hope Gala in person!

This year’s event will also include an online, live-stream option for individuals who want to participate in the Gala from home.

Compass Health is taking all necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of our staff, clients, and community members that plan to attend this year’s event in person. We will provide more updates as we get closer to the event.

JULY IS MINORITY MENTAL HEALTH MONTH & SOCIAL WELLNESS MONTH

Minority Mental Health Month

Minority Mental Health Month was first formally recognized in 2008 to bring awareness to the unique struggles that underrepresented groups face when it comes to mental illness in the United States.

This July, Mental Health America is focusing on the resiliency of underrepresented communities through their Strength in Communities campaign. The campaign highlights three areas of mental health: community care, self-directed care, and cultural care.

Social Wellness Month

Social wellness, or well-being, refers to your ability to effectively interact with those around you and create a support system of friends, family, neighbors and co-workers.

Maintaining an optimal level of social wellness allows you to build healthy relationships with others. Social wellness also fosters a connection with individuals, while contributing to your sense of belonging – which is important for optimal wellness.

WE'RE HIRING: DESIGNATED CRISIS RESPONDERS

Compass Health is currently looking to hire Designated Crisis Responders to join our crisis teams in Skagit, Island, San Juan, and Whatcom counties!

The DCR provides crisis intervention mental health services to persons of all ages experiencing acute behavioral health issues. These services will be provided primarily in community settings to individuals who are in crisis.

This position offers flexible shifts and on-call support, and is available in multiple communities.
