Be a Host Family
Did you know that Whitnall students enrolled in the French program have an opportunity to travel abroad during junior or senior year? During our recent spring break, ten teens traveled to France to spend five days with a host family with a French host brother or sister of their age, participating in daily activities and using their language in real life situations. The rest of the trip was spent sightseeing in Paris, climbing the Eiffel Tower, seeing Mona Lisa, and eating lots of croissants. You can find the photo report of their trip here .

What if you are not able to travel but still want to experience another culture? Then you can host a French teenager during this summer, and you don't even need to speak French. Families can opt to host for a full 3 weeks or 10 days in July. You can find more information here . With all questions and inquiries about hosting, contact Natalia DeLaat, WHS French Teacher, at [email protected] .
Mud Run
The Whitnall Mud Run is open to the entire Whitnall community. There is more information within the links! All funds raised will go towards a scholarship in honor of Kevin and Kylie Duffy.

Earth Day - April 22
This year, our theme for Earth Day is “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.” As a school, our action project will be to participate in Crayola’s ColorCycle initiative. This will be an ongoing initiative at EES. Crayola repurposes used markers (even non-crayola brands, highlighters, and dry erase markers) rather than sending them to landfills. Click here for all the details.

On Monday, April 22, we will also be participating in “Edgerton’s Earth Hour” from 1 - 2 PM. We will turn off anything that uses electrical energy (lights, document cameras, iPads, etc.) Some fifth grade students will be sharing some information about Earth Day/Earth Hour over the PA at the start of the hour. We invite you to join in the celebration by having your own Earth Hour!
Book Swap
Edgerton is currently collecting gently used children’s books and magazines for our annual book swap to be held in early June. If you wish to donate any books you no longer want, they may be dropped off at the school office. This event is held in conjunction with our summer reading kick-off. With your donations, every Edgerton student is able to select several books to take home with them. Thank you for considering a donation!
Spring Concert Dates
Our K5 and first grade learners are busy preparing in music class to present their spring concerts. The first grade concert is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14 at 6 PM. The K5 concert is Wednesday, May 15 at 6 PM. Both concerts will be held in the EES Main Gym.
Principal Chat
Mark your calendars for our next principal chat on Thursday, May 9 at 6:30 PM in the EES Library before the PTO meeting. Mr. D’Acquisto will be providing an update on current EES events and will be available to answer any questions you may have.
Hales Corners Elementary
Construction Update
Work on the courtyard is underway. The walls are being bricked, and concrete is being poured for the ramp and the tiered seating area. Each week, a different grade level will have a walk through opportunity. 5th grade will be on April 22. Visitor release forms were distributed to all HCE students.
Spring Concerts
The spring concerts are quickly approaching! Plan to join us for the K5 Concert on Wednesday, May 1 and the 1st Grade Concert on Thursday, May 2. Both concerts start at 6 PM.
Reaching Out
Our fourth graders participated in the October and April Hales Corners Library Memory Cafe events. Two classes walked to the library to participate in a sing-along and to visit with a few senior citizens from the community. Both visits were lovely afternoons filled with singing, laughs, and opportunities for our students to make new connections with community members.
Knowledge-a-Thon
Our students really had their thinking caps on at last week’s Knowledge-a-Thon! Now it’s time for the pledges to be turned in. They are due by April 24. A BIG THANKS to the wonderful parents who volunteered!
