Substitute Teachers Needed
If you hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university, you can obtain a three-year short-term substitute license by completing a state-approved educator preparation program. If you are obtaining your substitute license for the first time, the district will reimburse your license cost of $125 after you substitute for the district for the first time during the 2020-2021 school year. Earn Extra Cash
Are you looking for an opportunity to earn some extra cash? Would you like to do so in a familiar setting and with flexible hours? If so, Whitnall has the perfect opportunity for you! We are hiring for custodial work, approximately 4-5 hours per night, Monday through Friday. School Photos
Our final photo day is Monday! We’ve worked with VIP to ensure social distancing and safe procedures. To avoid lines, please make every attempt to arrive during the suggested time frames, assigned alphabetically by family last name. These times are not required, but will help to reduce lines. If your family's last name falls earlier in the alphabet than what is listed and you were not able to attend the first photo day, you should attend on the 31st. This photo day is for all schools and grade levels.

How to order school portraits: For safety and convenience, this year all orders will be placed online. Images will be posted to view and order within a week after your photo day. You'll receive an email alert when images are ready to view, and all orders will be delivered to your home. To place your order after photo day, go to vipis.com. Lunch Sign Up Form (September 1-4)
Next week, when students only attend for one day, lunches are available for every Whitnall  student for purchase on Tuesday, September 1 (2 lunches) and Thursday, September 3 (2 lunches) for the days they are not in school. Pickup will occur at the high school from 11 AM to 12:30 PM at Door 15Starting September 8, lunches will be available for pickup for all distance learners. Please see the “Distance Learning Letter” for additional details.

Bell Schedule
The bell schedule for this year has been updated. Please check it out here. Please be aware that the start time is 7:40 AM. For September 1-4, students will follow their regular schedule. Please come prepared with a charged Chromebook and basic school supplies.

WMS Start Time Change
The bell schedule for this year has been updated. Please be aware that the start time is 7:50 AM

For September 1-4,  each day will be run as a regular school day (starting at 7:50 AM and ending at 3:00 PM) where students will go to their regularly scheduled class. For this week only, students will meet all Core teachers and all Elective teachers (Both A and B day Elective teachers) on the scheduled day of attendance.
Technology
Chromebooks will be distributed during the first week of school. If your student retained their technology over the summer, please be sure they bring their charged Chromebook to school.
Noon Hour Supervisors Needed
Whitnall Middle School has vacancies for three noon hour supervisors with no current applicants. This position involves daily supervision in the lunchroom and on the playground from 10:30 AM until 1:30 PM. Pay is competitive. Please log into WECAN at this LINK to create an account and apply. Cross Country
Cross Country will begin on September 14th. Please register your athlete at this time. Our athletic director is gathering specific details regarding Girls Basketball and Dance and more information will be communicated when available.
Backpacks
New for the 2020-21 school year, we are encouraging students to take backpacks to class with all the necessary learning materials they will need throughout the day in an effort to reduce trips to their locker and eliminate hallway congestion. Students will still be assigned a locker and locks will be distributed the first day of school.

Noon Hour Supervisor Needed

School Supply Kits & Lists
Families who ordered supply kits from the EES PTO can pick up their kits at the school from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Please click here to view our revised student supply list. We understand that some supplies may not be available at this time.

A Day In The Life
Are you wondering what a typical school day will look like for your child? Please take a moment to read the “Day” that fits your child’s instructional delivery plan.

First Week Of School
Our first week of school is a “soft start.” Your child will come on either September 1, 2, 3 or 4. Grades K5-5 will be in school all day which is 8:35 AM - 3:35 PM. K4 students will attend for their assigned half day program. K4 AM students attend from 8:35-11:25 AM. K4 PM students attend from 12:45- 3:35 PM.
School Supplies
School supplies can be sent with your child on their “soft start” day of September 1, 2, 3 or 4. If you feel that the supplies  are too heavy or bulky, you can separate them and send the remaining supplies with your child during the week of September 8.
PTO
We hope your family will consider joining the HCE PTO!  We help support educational programs such as Artist in Residence, Curriculum based in-school programs and field trips at HCE to name a few. The $5 contribution also provides your family with an HCE Student Directory.  You can complete the form electronically by following this link.
