District News
18-19 Infinite Campus Online Verification Closes October 31
Parents/Guardians are required to annually verify and update the information provided to the district pertaining to family contact information, medical and health records, and other important information.

Included in the verification are the 18-19 Media Release Agreements . All families must determine whether their student(s) will have permission to be included in any media (digital or printed media). Video and photographs taken at school are generally candid photos, yearbook photos, group classroom activities, performances, and athletic games. Student names will not be included with individual images.

Selecting 'No Media' or no response indicates the students' image will be EXCLUDED from being published on the Whitnall website, school-related local press, social media (official WSD and other school-related social media), school activity photos and videos, classroom digital portfolios, performances, athletic games, and school annual yearbooks.

Students whose parents/guardians have not yet completed the verification and have not given consent will be EXCLUDED from the 18-19 school yearbook. If you have not completed the Online Verification through Infinite Campus , please do so before October 31st. Call the district office if you have questions (414) 525-8526 ( Accessing Online Verification Information )

Board Brief | October 22
Board briefs are simple summaries of our board meetings. Without having to labor through or wait for the comprehensive board minutes, you can access what changes the board approved at each of their meetings! The latest board brief (for the October 22 meeting) has been posted. Check it out on the right sidebar of our Agendas & Minutes page.
Development Day
The Whitnall School District will be sponsoring their 21st annual "Whitnall Child Development Day" program on Friday, November 30th. The program combines a developmental screening of preschool children with an opportunity for parents to learn more about child and family related services in the community. All families with 3 year olds residing in the Whitnall School District are welcome to attend. Please complete the form to register. An email will be sent to confirm your registration and appointment time.
Developmental Assets Survey
The District has eight goals for 2018-19 that will be monitored through the use of 45-day plans. You can view all of the district goals and 45-day plans on our website . District Goal 2 focuses on developing a multi-year social emotional learning action plan and the use of the Developmental Assets Survey , developed by the Search Institute, to measure building-level and District-wide progress. The initial surveys will be used to identify focus areas that should be included within the multi-year action plan outlined in the goal.

The eight categories measured within the survey include: support, empowerment, boundaries and expectations, constructive use of time, commitment to learning, positive values, social competencies, and positive identify. A Sample Survey can be viewed by following the link.

The survey will be administered to 5th, 7th and 9th grade students. Continued use of the survey will provide feedback on the impact of our efforts and growth of cohort groups over time. More information and a parent opt out option will be sent to impacted parents via Infinite Campus.

Booster Club Update
Our next monthly board meeting is set for Tuesday, November 6th. As always, we will meet in the WHS Library at 7 PM. We would love to see some new faces, and we guarantee that you will learn a thing or two about WFBC and what we do and our involvement at WHS.

At our last board meeting, you should know that we were able to approve a substantial donation to the Girls Softball Team for various improvements to their facilities that the Athletic Department and WFBC were able to make happen together. WFBC was also able to provide funding for a new pitching machine.

We are looking for a few Volunteers to be Concession Openers for the Winter Sports. We are looking for someone to volunteer to open for:

1.Girls Basketball (First home game is November 20th)
2.Boys Basketball (First home game is November 30th)
3. Wrestling (First Home Match is December 5th)

What is a Conession Opener? An Opener is someone who shows up approx.1/2 hour before workers to set up concessions in preparation for the night's event. Once all workers arrive, lead them in the direction they will need to be stationed for the night, answer any questions they have and be sure to hand them the “closing procedures” as you will not be returning. We would train you on these duties if you have never done this before. The club or sport working is in charge of closing concessions. This is really very easy and requires very little time commitment on your part however it is VERY helpful to us. Without an opener we can't offer concessions. This position is vital. We would be so grateful for your commitment. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any additional questions or just want to know more about this. You can check out the dates using the link below.

WFBC is already busy planning our big spring fundraiser. Last April, we held Casino Night at the Greenfield Community Center. The planning process for this year is about to get underway, and we are looking for some volunteers that might want to join the planning committee. Please let us know if you would like to be a part of this. We are really looking to make this a bigger and better event and would love to hear your thoughts or ideas if you attended last year or just have really great ideas and want to join us in making this event a huge success! Please reach out to us by email should you wish to learn more.

You can contact Nicole Bartkowiak at [email protected]   if you can help or have additional questions.

Dress for Weather
With fall upon us and winter around the corner, please send your child to school dressed for the weather. While the day may start out sunny and warm, by recess the winds can pick up and the day can turn quite chilly. Students can enjoy recess if they are dressed for the Wisconsin weather.
