Ministry Highlights

Ebenezer Fountain

This past Sunday, the Ebenezer Fountain in the Courtyard was dedicated in loving memory of Herb and Elsie Purnell, longtime missionaries to Thailand and cherished members of San Gabriel Community Church.

Herb and Elsie faithfully encouraged us to build “Ebenezers” - reminders of God’s help and faithfulness throughout our lives.

To learn more about the Ebenezer Fountain and the legacy of Herb and Elsie, please click the button below.

The website features:

  • An explanation of the purpose and meaning of the Ebenezer Fountain
  • A brief biography of Herb and Elsie Purnell
  • Three sermons relating to Ebenezers (including a sermon preached together by Pastor Steve and Herb)
  • A heartfelt tribute written by Greg and Kathleen Parsons

A Heartfelt Thank You To Our Church Family

We were overwhelmed with all that was lavished on us at Greg's retirement celebration. Thank you for making the evening one we will always treasure. We so appreciate your love and encouragement over the years. It is such a joy and privilege to be a part of this wonderful church family. We plan to be away over the summer, but look forward to being back with you in the fall.
With much love,
Greg and Suzanne Golden

Trainor's Mission in Italy

Come to our home (very close to church) to enjoy fellowship and hear about our mission in Italy. We'll be explaining the spiritual needs of Italy and how we'll be working with a great ministry doing church planting. We'll also share our financial goals, but please come regardless of whether you plan to support us or not (or even if you already do). Our time in the US is growing short, so come see us!

Assistive Listening System Available in Sanctuary

We offer an Assistive Listening System in the Sanctuary for those that have mild to moderate hearing loss. These small devices will provide direct audio during the entire worship service and will allow you to adjust the volume to meet your individual needs. You must sit in the main center section of the sanctuary to use the system. The system is not available in the North or South chapels.

If you would like to take advantage of this new system, please stop by the sound booth.

Praise

Hello everyone!

My trip is coming to an end and it has been an amazing experience! Praise the Lord we arrived safely at our destination, and although a lot of things changed in the initial schedule, regarding where we were staying in the city, everything worked together in the end. It was also a great opportunity to learn about the heritage of the city!

The first part of the trip was widely focused on being learners in a new culture and it taught me a lot about understanding people and building relationships and trust. It has also taught me patience, that ministry takes time and does not always happen the way you think it will. But praise God for sustaining me and teaching me many things through the first part of the trip! We pray that we left a positive impact on the people we met and demonstrated Christ’s love to them.

We did a lot of traveling throughout this trip and were able to see and experience many things. Some of these included: getting to talk on the local radio station, take a two-day hike up a mountain, and much more. It was always a privilege to be in whatever place God had us and to see how welcoming and excited everyone was to meet us.

As the trip winds down, I want to thank you all for your prayers and support! Please be praying for us for unity and humility and to continue to be a light to everyone we meet. Thank you!

Steve & Eida Irwin

Ethnos 360

Prayer

  • In January, Steve was able to spend nearly three weeks in San Jose, CA, with his mom, serving as her caregiver, and also visiting with some old friends who have stood with us faithfully throughout the years of our ministry.

  • In February, Steve flew to Southern California to participate in the San Gabriel Community Church Global Outreach Weekend and visit with Eida's mother and with many other great friends in that church.

Our 50th wedding anniversary was June 21st.

July 19 -- Our eldest granddaughter, Natalie Bergman, is marrying Caleb Rees in New Hampshire! We are just blown away that we will have a married granddaughter! Caleb is a good man -- raised in Thailand, where his parents were missionaries. They desire to serve the Lord in missions.

Eida has chronic pain issues which can flare up. Please keep her health in your prayers.

My next big project is the Ethnos360 Bible Translators' Handbook, which is about 140 pages of very heavy technical material. Fortunately, our recently-retired teammate did the first draft, which will save me some work, though sometimes revising can take nearly as much time and effort as the initial translation. We anticipate that a Translation Seminar in Spanish will be held sometime in the coming months and that I'll be called on to translate Powerpoint slides and handouts for that event.
