Preparing for the graduation ceremony
It seems like it’s only been a short time since I wrote about my expectations for the new academic year. One more academic year is almost over and we are slowly preparing for the graduation at the end of May, as well as for the academic year that lies ahead. Looking back at the year that went by, we are once again filled with awe for God’s amazing love and power, as well as gratitude for our students and colleagues. May God use those young people for His glory and for the proclamation of the Gospel, wherever He may send them.
The last couple of months have been relatively quiet. I had the chance to teach apologetics to the Greek and English-speaking students, as well as write a series of articles for the magazine of our churches and give lectures in a number of churches. What I find encouraging is the fact that a large
number of brothers and sisters from a Pentecostal background have started showing their interest in the college and theology (as an academic principle) in general, a fact which shows -to our joy- that what is being communicated is a commitment to God’s glory and His Word. May God open the way for more people to gain a deeper love for the Scriptures and a deeper understanding of them, and may the college play the part for which it was founded in the first place.
In March students and faculty went on our annual 4-day field trip around Greece. We had the opportunity to visit churches in the Greek cities of Volos, Ioannina and Patra, as well as to spend some time at the ruins
of ancient Nicopolis (Titus 3:12), enjoying the company of a local Orthodox priest, with whom we enjoy a strong friendship. This year, the field trip had a huge impact on me, and I hope on the rest of the students and professors as well.
My book, it is at the stage of proof-reading and occasionally I receive emails from the publisher on a series of secondary issues, which, I trust, is an indication that things progress smoothly. I don’t have a date for the final publication yet, but trust me, as soon as I do, I will let you know. Until
then, I have been tasked with the theological supervision of the translation in Greek of the “9 Marks” series published by Crossway books, which means that for the next few months I will be working on that project.
Last but not least, we are thankful to our Lord for our Church at Pagrati. Danai and I have the opportunity to assist on many levels and we enjoy edifying fellowship with the brethren. We feel that it was God that led us to that Church and we pray for humility, biblical wisdom and Christ-like love, so we can serve the brethren faithfully.
Prayer
- That rural Greece will be re-evangelized and the brethren there will be encouraged.
- That our church at Pagrati will reach out to people from the area with the Gospel and that the brethren will develop deeper relationships of love and
- accountability.
- That Danai and I will serve the Church faithfully and raise our children in the ways of the Lord.
- That the copies of the New Testament that were distributed will lead people to saving faith in Christ.
Thank you for your Christian love and support!
Grace and Peace,
Giorgos
