The project delivers not only the joy of what, for many kids, is their first gift ever, but also gives them a tangible expression of God’s love.

Boxes will be available this Sunday through Sunday 11.16, outside the Sanctuary.

A Big Change Happened

Darby A Strickland & Kristen Howdeshell

Ages 4-8

Wallace Whale loves his home in the warm blue sea near the green island where he and Mama sing, eat, sleep, and play. But one day, Mama tells him about a big change—they’re leaving for a long journey North! Wallace is worried and has so many questions: What will the North be like? Will he be okay? As they swim into the unknown, Mama gently reminds Wallace: Wherever you go, whatever you do, God’s love follows you.

Assistive Listening System Available in Sanctuary

We offer an Assistive Listening System in the Sanctuary for those that have mild to moderate hearing loss. These small devices will provide direct audio during the entire worship service and will allow you to adjust the volume to meet your individual needs. You must sit in the main center section of the sanctuary to use the system. The system is not available in the North or South chapels.

If you would like to take advantage of this new system, please stop by the sound booth.

Sign Up for Pulpit Flowers

Sign up to provide flowers on Sunday morning! Arrangements cost $45; Fanny’s Flowers will deliver them to the church before the Worship Service.

The arrangement is yours to take home after the service.

Please make checks out to “SGCC” and mail to the church. Scan the QR code below to sign-up.

Imed & Ellie

Lighthouse

We join with nearly everyone in the region to celebrate the good news of a historic peace deal between Gaza and Israel.

Continue to pray that indeed the violence will end; some people in southern Lebanon still fear a bleeding over of the conflict from Palestine as it did before. Pray that peace will remain and families can rebuild their lives. During this time of peace, may churches and Christian organizations be wise and bold to use this opportunity for spreading the message of the True Prince of Peace.

Over recent years, Lebanon has experienced an unprecedented decrease in the amount of rainfall (and snowfall in the winter seasons), causing a crisis of scarcity of water which is taking a toll on the agricultural sector threatening livelihoods and food security. Please pray for rain! May God bring an end to this drought in this upcoming rainy season.

Imed and some team members are busily working on a project called "100 Q & A," which targets young people on social media—especially Gen Z. The project consists of 100 question and answer one-minute videos that address common questions non-Christians have about the Bible, the Church, and Christianity. Filming is taking place in several locations in the Arab World, and there are many technicalities in the production process. Pray that these videos will be attractive to a younger generation that is jaded with digital media content. Pray that the team can produce high-quality videos that are spiritually appropriate for a generation that needs the Gospel.

Imed and Ellie plan to travel in November for opportunities to speak to donors and in churches. Pray for a fruitful time of fundraising.

Urgent. Please pray for Julio Ramírez

Julio is a relatively new member of our field leadership team in Colombia. He and his wife have experience in tribal church planting and he now serves as a teacher in our Instituto Misionero, preparing cross-cultural church planters to work among unreached tribes.

A couple of weeks ago, he was in the jungle, and he suddenly found himself barely able to breathe, which must have been terrifying!

So he was flown urgently for emergency care to the city of Villavicencio at the foot of the Andes. He had been leading a small group of trainees who were doing an internship in a tribal village. His wife, Nadya, and their teenage boys, Jonathan and Josué (Joshua) were with him as well.

He has been in intensive care in a clinic for about 11 days now. Fluid is accumulating in his lungs, which is why he can't breathe adequately on his own. They have inserted tubes surgically and a catheter to drain the fluid. Fungus and bacteria have been discovered in the lungs. They did another MRI, which thank the Lord showed that his lungs are just a little bit more cleaned out than they were.  He can't really eat, although he can drink a bit of Gatorade which Nadya brings him, and they say his kidneys are not doing well.

Thank God also that a new antifungal medication that the clinic had ordered has now arrived, so we’re hoping that this helps kill that fungus.

A referral order for a transfer for him to be taken up the mountain to Bogotá, the capital city, to be seen by a lung specialist has been approved, praise God.

Also, their medical insurance only covers them in the state of Cundinamarca, which includes Bogotá and Fusagasugá (where the Institute is located). We don't know what the medical bill will be for the 11 days in the clinic in Villavicencio, or if their insurance might cover any of that.

Nadya is very encouraged at Julio's spirit. Although he could hardly speak when he first entered the clinic, he can now talk, with effort, and he is expressing tremendous faith in the Lord in this trial, entrusting his life into God's hands.
