Operation Christmas Child

Join us in packing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child! Since 1993, more than 188 million children in more than 170 countries and territories have received an Operation Christmas Child shoe box. The project delivers not only the joy of what, for many kids, is their first gift ever, but also gives them a tangible expression of God’s love.

Boxes will be available this Sunday, outside in the breezeway between the Sanctuary and Admin Building. Click the button to find out how to pack a shoe box. Please fill your box and return to Carol & Mo Nakatsui by Sunday, November 17th.

Book of the Week

Any Time, Any Place, Any Prayer Storybook: A True Story of How You Can Talk With God

By Laura Wifler, Catalina Echeverri

Ages 2-5

When children have something on their minds, they tend to run to their parents and caregivers. Wouldn’t it be great if they also learned that they can talk to God about anything and everything because Jesus has made that possible?

This beautifully illustrated Bible storybook, by Risen Motherhood co-founder Laura Wifler, takes children on a journey from the start of the Bible story to the end. From Eden and God’s presence, through the fall, redemption, and the Spirit’s presence with us now, to our presence with God in the future, God has always made a way for his people to talk with him. Children will learn a biblical understanding of prayer, why it’s amazing, and that they can enjoy talking with God about anything, anytime, anywhere.

Includes Jesus’ teaching on the Lord’s Prayer to help children know how to pray.

Assistive Listening System Available in Sanctuary

We offer an Assistive Listening System in the Sanctuary for those that have mild to moderate hearing loss. These small devices will provide direct audio during the entire worship service and will allow you to adjust the volume to meet your individual needs. You must sit in the main center section of the sanctuary to use the system. The system is not available in the North or South chapels.

If you would like to take advantage of this new system, please stop by the sound booth.

Greece

Prayer and Praise

  • We had a special treat last month. A church in the States had given an all expense paid retreat for all the pastors of the Greek Evangelical Church in Greece. It was a couple of days at beautiful Lake Plastira, in the middle of the mountains in Central Greece, and was a great time for relaxing, getting to know some of the younger pastors involved in some of the church plants, and having some stimulating and encouraging sessions.
  • On November 12 will be a special time of prayer and seeking the Lord’s face for the evangelism of Greece. A couple of years ago several pastors from different denominations began meeting to pray. Recently they opened the meetings to the public, and now there is interesting in making specific plans.
  • We are grateful to the Lord for good health. We do have the aches and pains that come with aging, but are able to keep going—with slowing down slightly but doing it in style!
  • And we praise God that our church in Agia Paraskevi continues to function with good attendance for Sunday evening Bible study and Wednesday evening prayer meetings. Our desire is for us to be a light in the community, and that is happening in various ways. One of these is providing space at the church for a group of kids on the autism spectrum to meet for drama practice. We are hoping they will be able to put on a play for us before Christmas!
  • Please pray for the Greek Bible College Open Day, when we will be inviting young people from various youth groups to experience “a day at the Greek Bible College.” They will have the opportunity to learn about the history of the college and sample classes and experience the community with the students. We are hoping for a good attendance, but for young people to be open to serving the Lord and preparing for ministry.
