The Sisterhood Connection
May 2019
The Sisterhood of
T he Temple, Congregation  B'nai  Jehudah

The community is invited to attend the Yom Hashoah remembrance service commemorating the 76th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising and the 56th anniversary of the dedication of Kansas City's Memorial to the Six Million at the Jewish Community Campus.  Sisterhood is a proud sponsor of this program that is on Sunday, May 5 from 1:30-3:00 at the JCC. As you know, from recent terrorist events and acts of violence at synagogues and churches here in America and around the world, hatred and anti-semitism  is always present. Let's never forget. Never Again.

Sisterhood is excited to present a new section to our newsletter, " Sisterhood  Spotlight" which  will appear several times a year and feature Sisterhood members who have made a contribution to our Kansas City community through their time and service. Since Yom Hashoah is this month, we thought you would enjoy learning about Rita Sudhalter, who is currently serving on the Board of Directors of MCHE, Midwest Center for Holocaust Education.

Have a wonderful Spring!
The Sisterhood Board
Sisterhood Spotlight
RITA SUDHALTER ... has been on the Sisterhood Board and has held several executive positions, including Membership Vice President  and will be installed this year as  Gift Shop Treasurer. She has always been an active member of Sisterhood and has provided direction and leadership, as well as time and devotion to Sisterhood. Rita is a retired  "gifted" teacher and now substitutes in the Olathe School District.

Rita is currently serving on the Board of MCHE, Midwest Center for Holocaust Education.
Yom Hashoah  is an important day to Rita and we thank her for  sharing her thoughts with us for our "Sisterhood Spotlight" this month.

"Yom Hashoah is a day to honor and remember the more than six million Jewish men, women, and children, and countless others who were impacted by World War II. As a child of survivors who lost all family members, it is deeply personal to me every day. I am honored to serve on the Board of the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education.  The mission of MCHE is to improve our world, honor the past and protect the future, and to be a courageous voice against intolerance and indifference. Education and programming ensure that the history and lessons of the Holocaust must never be forgotten. Survivors' stories and experiences will continue to be preserved and shared so that these atrocities will not be repeated."
