Dear Women of Sisterhood & B'nai Jehudah,
It is not too late.
It is early and about to grow.
Now is the time
To do what you know you must
And have feared to begin.
-Marge Piercy

As we approach Rosh Hashana and the Days of Awe, let’s take time for introspection, self-awareness, and self-care. Only by strengthening our own souls, can we position ourselves adequately for each other and for Tikkun Olam, repairing the world.

  • Slow down: meditate, reflect, journal.
  • Smile for any reason, and for no reason at all.
  • Be grateful.
  • Stay calm: focus on your breathing.
  • Spend time outside and be in nature.
  • Help others and do good deeds.
May the New Year bring you and your loved ones health, happiness, peace and prosperity.

Membership Appreciation Luncheon
Outside Under the Trees and a Tent

Sunday, September 26
12:15 p.m.
Congregation B'nai Jehudah

Speaker
Rabbi Stephanie Kramer

Shoshana Award Recipient
Jody Cosner

Taking into account the increased number of local Covid cases and a deep concern for the health and safety of our members, our Sisterhood event is going to be held outside under a tent at B'nai Jehudah. We are serving a light lunch and seating will be socially distanced.

Our original speaker, Michelle Scheinkopf from WRJ in Chicago, is unable to join us at this time. We hope to have her visit us next year. However, we are excited that our wonderful Rabbi Stephanie Kramer will share her thoughts with us! Also, join us as we celebrate Jody Cosner receiving the Shoshanna Award, a much deserved honor.

This is a luncheon to show appreciation to our
Sisterhood members for their continued support,
especially during these challenging times.
Complimentary for members, guests $18/person.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our
Vice President of Programming, Hilary Fried at [email protected].

We will be collecting toiletries for women & children living at SafeHome, at the luncheon.

If inclement weather, rain date will be provided by email.

We look forward to seeing you.
We are proud to recognize Jody Cosner with the Shoshana Award
Please join us to recognize Jody at our
Membership Appreciation Luncheon
Sunday, September 26 (information above)

The Shoshana Award was created in 1982 to acknowledge women who have made significant commitments of time and energy to the Sisterhood of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah. Jody Cosner, this year’s Shoshana recipient exemplifies all qualities of a Shoshana woman by representing Sisterhood with dignity, honor and enthusiasm. She has given of her time and energy through the many offices she has held, her participation within numerous community organizations, and her commitment to take our Sisterhood into a new, innovative future.

In 2013, when she was Membership Vice-President, Jody created and developed the monthly Sisterhood newsletter “The Connection” and still is our "chief-editor" today! Jody also started NexGen, a Sisterhood group for members under 45 years of age. Fully dedicated to Sisterhood, Jody is mentor to many, including those on the Sisterhood Board of Directors. Jody stands out as a true asset to TTCBJ Sisterhood.

Jody has been blessed with a wonderful family and many friends that have stood by her in every endeavor she has chosen to do in her life. Jody chooses to do the activities that are people-oriented, challenging and meaningful.

A plaque honoring past recipients of this award, and plates for future recipients will be placed in the Judaica Shop. This new plaque features the names of all past recipients as well as this year’s recipient. Drop by the Judaica Shop and see the 33 names that are on the plaque.

Sisterhood brings smiles with Donuts & Bagels

To welcome parents and students to Back to School Day, August 15, Sisterhood provided donuts and bagels and it proved to be a big success! It was a beautiful day, so everything was set up outside. Everyone enjoyed the snacks, especially the donuts. Pictured are the Sisterhood members who kept the donut and bagel boxes filled. Todah Rabah.

HELP SUPPORT SISTERHOOD, TOO!

You will get a tax donation form and Sisterhood gets a percentage of the earnings thanks to our Sisterhood member, Lori Siegel, the owner of the resale shop "A Lotta Stuff at Stan's."

Items should be in the garage boxed and ready to go. If necessary she can help clean out and remove usable items from your home for a reasonable charge. Lori can use almost any item as long as it is not ripped, stained, broken, and still has some usefulness.

Covid safety guidelines are followed. Please mention Sisterhood!

To arrange a pick-up, please call Lori's cell, 816-668-3960, or
