DEBRIEFING DEATHCARE SERIES

STAFF UPDATES

Emily’s House & Philp Aziz Centre welcomes Morgan Livingstone as our Certified Child Life Specialist, bringing 25 years of experience to support patients and families. Her core care areas include play-based therapy, sibling support, and bereavement care. Her global reach includes training healthcare workers in low-resource settings. Morgan looks forward to getting to know our incredible volunteers and share in your kindness, compassion, and willingness to share your time, and knows it plays an essential role in creating the warm, welcoming environment that makes Emily’s House so special. Together, she knows you can help children and families make the most of every moment.

Best Wishes Dana!

After making such a meaningful difference as our Client Care Coordinator, Dana is beginning an exciting new chapter as she pursues further education. Dana's compassion, warmth, professionalism, and excellence will be missed! While we'll certainly miss seeing her around Emily's House and Philip Aziz Centre, we're excited to see all she accomplishes next! Thank you, Dana, for everything you've given to our community. Wishing you every success in school and all the best in your next adventure!

COMMUNITY CLIENTS - MATCHING

Hopefully you have had a chance to review the Urgent Care Request notice we sent out. We have had an increase in community clients and asking all available volunteers to please consider being matched in community.

SUMMER VOLUNTEER NOTES

These three volunteers were supporting children at our EH day camp, job shadowing, and transferring knowledge accumulated from frontline hospice care. The photo captures what we can refer to as “Three Eras of Volunteering!” Three inspiring volunteers, at different stages in their commitment, supporting medically-fragile children, as well as one another (left to right):

  • Leanna – a brand-new volunteer on her first shift at Emily’s House.
  • Jessica – serving her last day at Emily’s House after three years of volunteering. Inspired by her time at EH, she is leaving to pursue her Therapeutic Recreation Degree at a program out west!
  • Lisbeth – is a familiar face who has been volunteering for “nine years and counting” at Emily’s House, and was mentoring Leanna on her first shift.

Thank you to all our selfless volunteers at every stage of your volunteer journey, and in the career and life paths you choose after connecting with hospice care in your own personally meaningful way!
