Greene County Baptists

are Great Commission Baptists

The late Jim Flora Sr., IMB missionary to Lesotho and former pastor of Hamlin Baptist, carries a man down a mountain who is too sick to walk to the doctor. IMB missionaries speak and show the love of Christ in many ways.

Holding the Ropes

Josh Hall, Director of Missions

For Southern Baptists, the month of December is a time to focus on international missions and, specifically, the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering! It is an awesome thing to think about 47,000 Southern Baptist churches from all over America coming together to give $205 MILLION (this year’s goal) to take the Gospel to the nations. Wow. That makes me humbly proud to be a Southern Baptist.

Did you know that through the ministry of the International Mission Board, Southern Baptists deploy over 3,600 missionaries to the foreign mission field? These men and women are on the front lines of the Great Commission; they are our heroes! (See photo.) By the grace of God and through the efforts of these missionaries (and the prayers and gifts of those who sent them), over 100,000 professions of faith were made in the last reporting year and over 20,000 new congregations were planted. Praise God!

Noted missionary to India, William Carey, once famously told a supporter, “I will go down into the pit, but you must hold the ropes.” Will you join me in holding the ropes for our wonderful missionaries? Will you make a prayerful and generous financial gift to this year’s Lottie Moon Christmas Offering through your local church? I can think of no better way to invest one’s treasure than to send the gospel to those who have never heard.

A Change to The Connection

Josh Hall, Director of Missions

At GCBA, it is our desire to be the best possible steward of our churches’ offerings. As mailing, printing and paper costs continue to rise, it has become increasingly expensive to mail out a physical copy of The Connection each month. (For reference, we spent nearly $8,000 on mailing out The Connection in 2024.) Thus, with the encouragement of our Associational Leadership Council, we have made the decision to move to quarterly mailings of The Connection in 2025. The first of these quarterly editions will come out in March.

To supplement these physical mailings, and to keep everyone abreast of news and events in the association, we will send a “monthly update” to our subscribers via email near the beginning of each month. If you already receive The Connection through email, there is nothing more you need to do to receive the monthly update. If you do not currently receive emails from us, please email Shannon Peelor at speelor@gbaptist.org or call our office at 417-869-2557 to get your email address added to the monthly update list.

We have received much positive feedback about The Connection regarding the content of our articles and our updated look. Thank you so much! We will strive to continue to make The Connection a quality resource in the months and years ahead.
