The health and well being of your child is our top priority. We encourage all of our families to take an active role in measures to ensure the health and well being of your child during cold and flu season.
- Children with a fever of 100 degrees or above and or other active symptoms of flu or infection (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or pinkish/red swollen eyes with a discharge) should be kept at home. Your child should be fever-free for 24 hours without medications (Tylenol or Ibuprofen) before returning to school.
- Children who have seen the doctor and were prescribed antibiotics for strep, pink eye or other illnesses should remain out of school for 24 hours after beginning the medication.
COVID UPDATE
There has been an increase in the number of COVID cases aligned to a new variant. The most recent guidance from the Maryland Department of Health and CDC requires that a student or staff member, who has contracted the virus, must quarantine for five days. If, on the sixth day, the individual is fever free and NOT on a fever reducing medication, he or she may return to school but must wear a mask for five days.
The school year will begin as mask optional. We will closely monitor any updates from the Maryland Department of Health and CDC as we progress throughout the school year. I will notify all parents immediately if we have to shift to a mandatory mask requirement.
