Alexis Tejera Rodriguez – IQ Dorchester House: Alexis was recently on duty when a female resident in distress came to the reception and reported a serious incident had taken place. He waited with her for almost 4 hours until the police arrived on site. During this time he displayed great professionalism and sensitivity while also carrying out his normal duties. The police who attended praised him for his diligence in making sure the resident was okay and also the iQSA manager wished us to pass on his appreciation under very difficult circumstances.
Dominik Krzesinski – IQ Twerton Mills: nominated by Head of Operations Wayne Redman. Whilst dealing with two serious incidents in January (Attempted Burglary / Possession of an Offensive Weapon), Dominik remained calm and relied on his years of experience to ensure no further property was taken or persons injured during the two incidents on site. His proactiveness and professionalism allowed a swift response leading to arrests being made by Police who attended the scene. Dominik played a pivotal role in ensuring the residents safety on both occasions and I commend him for his efforts.

Will Haywood, nominated by student accommodation client. “I wanted to put Will forward for employee of the month. This is because he is consistently going over and above for our residents. Always willing to help and assist. Furthermore he helps covering additional shifts, training of other guards at short notice, and is never seen moaning about it. He is mister dependable, and he needs some sort of recognition.

Kane Richardson ( Straits Village, Nottingham) On the 19th March, a resident was followed back to the property by two males who proceed to follow the resident into the property where a verbal argument began between the resident and the group. Kane attempted to calm the situation down. The incident was escalated by the resident who throw a punch at one of the males which resulted in a “brawl”. Kane split the group up whilst the Officer he was training at the time contacted the police. Kane’s actions prevented real harm being caused to either party, himself and the other Officer and his quick actions ensured the incident was resolved quickly and safely. After speaking to both Kane and the Property Manager at the Straits, I feel Kane handled the incident extremely well. The Property Manager could not speak highly enough of Kane and his actions and his overall attitude for the job. To quote the Property Manager “ Kane is Fantastic”.

Gareth King Grosvenor House: nominated by OM Luke Simms: his general attitude towards work is great, cannot do enough to help the clients and me when required. Every time I speak to him, he is always very positive and wanting to go the extra mile. He is a real shinning example of what I feel Consortio Security Officers should be like. I have recently had a request from Code, Leicester to have him based there permanently due to how he is with the residents and how he is in general.

iQSA Operations Manager has passed on his gratitude towards the team following an email he received from the Social Media Executive at iQSA.

There is the excellent security team (Officer Jamil, Officer Shan, Officer Jay and Officer James). Alexis Tejera Rodriguez: iQSA - Dorchester House
On Friday 13th May, Alexis called control to inform that a trespass and assault incident had occurred. At 22:00 some of the residents informed Alexis that they had seen 5 males gain entry to the site. Upon entry into the courtyard area of the site, Alexis witnessed the intruders sexually and physically assault some of the female residents. He managed to escort them from the premises, via the reception door, at which point one of the trespassers took a swing at Alexis and he was cut on his neck. Alexis called the police at 22:15 as the assailants ran away. At 22:30 the police arrived, they took statements from Alexis and some of the residents. Alexis showed great bravery and professionalism in dealing with these trespassers and was very attentive towards the female residents that had been assaulted. iQSA OM Ross Boreham was extremely grateful and proud of his actions and made calls to ensure Alexis was ok on his next shifts.

Akram Ahmed - Kaplan Living Bournemouth: nominated by Operations Manager Jason Stacey. Please see below from the client: His quick and decisive actions on Saturday 25th June when a fire broke out on site has prompted the following email from the Kaplan General Manager : “Akram was working at Reception when thick smoke was noticed coming from the laundry room. The fire alarms went off and Akram immediately jumped into action. Declan (Kaplan employee) went up into the building to start evacuating the students, whilst Akram grabbed a fire extinguisher and tried to tackle the fire himself. He was not able to contain the fire and removed himself from the situation when the fire department arrived on site. He handed over to the fire department whilst waiting for myself to arrive at site. When I got to site only 10 minutes later, Akram and Declan had successfully and safely evacuated the building of over 200 students, liaised with the fire department and offered to continue helping in whatever way he could. Akram acted out of instinct and really impressed the whole team with his calm nature in an emergency and willingness to get involved and help us ensure the safety of the students and the building. We are in the middle of a huge project replacing the cladding externally, which has left the building in a ‘high-risk’ category for fire safety. If this fire was not handled as well as it was, there could have catastrophic consequences, so we are extremely grateful to the support shown.”

Andreia Morais - Nottingham nominated by Kevin Cassidy; Upon starting the role as the new OM for the region every officer has started with a blank canvas as such, it is clear to see who the over achievers are, and I am keen to recognise one with this nomination. This month’s nomination from me is Andreia who has excelled in both her performance and application since I have taken over as OM. Andreia has frequently gone above the standard expected of a security officer and has accepted difficult tasks without complaint. Her willingness to help is second to none. This month Andreia has changed upwards of 8 of her baseline shifts to cover other officers both in terms of annual leave, sickness or drop outs without complaint and has worked upwards of 50% more hours to accommodate this. To me, Andreia is an excellent example of a team player frequently putting the needs of others before her own.

David Morais nominated by Kevin Cassidy following the email from the Manager of IQ Nottingham – David frequently goes above and beyond in his role typified by the email below. On Sunday David both recognised and acted pro-actively in clearing up disregarded rubbish from around the bin storage area at Newland House. The number of items moved by David was phenomenal so much so that he filled four rooms of the IQ Building with the overspill. Not only did David do a good job here it also shows his willingness to accept jobs that others refuse. Well Done David and thank you for being a good advocate of the business.

Simon Robinson (Bio City) nominated by Kevin Cassidy for his actions after a stabbing which occurred offsite on the 20th of September 2022. The client’s views are below: Regarding Simon he has settled into the role really well, we have had positive comments from staff, tenants and people that attend site. His customer service is absolutely perfect and just what we need for a site like Bio City. With events that took place on Friday he dealt with the situation in a calm, thoughtful and considered approach. We had a lot of police on site, and he took instruction from ourselves and them really well. He directed the police to the CCTV, told them which cameras to look at, what timescale which assisted them directly to where they needed to be. They commented on how helpful he had been, and this made their role more directed to the exact sequence of events. From the Bio City perspective, we are so pleased that Simon was the one Officer on duty as he writes down all relevant information concisely, this obviously assisted the police with their investigation. We just want him to keep up the good work.

Dave Mathurin (Stockwood Academy) nominated by Luke Simms following an email from the Client: “Further to our conversation this morning , I would like to nominate Dave Mathurin for recognition for going the extra mile. Throughout my time of managing the security contract at the Shared Learning Trust, Dave has always been your strongest and most reliable employee. However, last night Dave excelled, even by his own high standards, by not only detecting a burst water pipe but also staying two hours beyond the end of his shift, until gone midnight, to assist in the clearing up operation. His efforts have been acknowledged by our CEO and I trust Consortio will also recognise what a wonderful employee he is.”

Goncalo Oliveira Nogueira (NCC Bristol) nominated by Charles Dunrod following two emails from the Client: I know that Laura will probably contact you, but I just wanted to say myself how amazing G was today.
- We had all kinds of stuff going on this morning, as we prepared for an event and then had a number of last-minute issues crop up with competing priorities. Without asking G was in and helping from assisting to get the visitors booked in, building inductions, helping to get presentations playing on the TVs and signage in place. Just above and beyond. The team would have struggled without his help this morning. He always has a helpful and can-do attitude, and it was amped up today and I’m very grateful.
- Do you still have the star of the month type award for guards? If so I would really like to nominate G for this, he goes above and beyond every day but today he was particularly excellent. We had lots of events, meetings and visitors and he carried out inductions, greeted them and helped with tasks around the building to ready it for the events. He is always very professional and can’t do enough to help! I know he has also used his own time to stay on for training and to help train cover guards.

On call manager has been informed and Officer G King has cleaned up as best he can and has had to lessen the number of patrols due to ensuring the water levels are maintained until maintenance can arrive. Nathon Allen Vale of Glamorgan Car Park Nominated by Regional Operations Manager Charles Dunrod following a serious incident on site: Whilst on patrol Nathan came across a male in the stairwell on level 7 who was about to cause himself serious harm or worse still. They held a long conversation and the individual become agitated and said that I would have to forcefully remove him for him to leave, I wasn’t prepared to do that, so I decided to remove myself from the situation to be at a safe distance and call 999. Whilst on the phone to the Police and also monitoring the individual he made his way down the opposite stairwell exiting the stairs on level 2, he then walked very gingerly down the car ramp and out of the main exit straight into the middle of the road. The Police were on scene within 5 minutes I gave a brief statement to the Police Officers who then proceeded to catch up with him further up Holton Road at which point I notified the National Control Centre that there had been an incident on site. A massive well done to Nathan as the finer details have ben redacted from this citation it is evidently clear that he saved the individuals life.
