Coral Gables Farmers Market Returns this Saturday!

The Coral Gables Farmers Market returns for its 27th season this Saturday, January 13 on the corner of Miracle Mile and LeJeune Road. Come stroll every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. - until March 24 - to find local vendors selling fresh Florida produce, baked goods, specialty foods and plants for your garden. A free Tai Chi class starts at 8 a.m., followed by gardening workshops at 9 a.m., cooking demonstrations from one of Coral Gables' finest restaurants at 10 a.m. and children activities beginning at 11 a.m. Read more... 
City Hall Closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Coral Gables City Hall will be closed on Monday, January 15 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a  national holiday to honor the birthday of the slain civil rights leader. A Baptist minister and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, King advocated nonviolence while leading the Civil Rights Movement during the 1950s and 1960s and famously articulated a vision of America wherein every citizen truly had equal rights. 

Other schedule:
  • Garbage, trash, and recycling services will not be affected.
  • Trolley Service will be operating regular hours from 6:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. 
  • War Memorial Youth Center will be open for regular hours. 
  • Salvadore Park Tennis Center and Kerdyk Tennis Center will be open for regular hours from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. 
The following facilities and services will also be closed: 
  • Passport Office at 4520 Ponce de Leon Blvd. 
  • Adult Activity Center at 2 Andalusia Avenue.

Here's How to Recycle Your Christmas Trees 

Don't forget the City is still offering free Christmas tree recycling collection to Coral Gables residents. A collection schedule for single family homes runs through January 26. Residents living in multi-family homes, such as condos or apartments, have until Sunday, January 14 to bring their trees for recycling to the drop-off area at the War Memorial Youth Center's west parking lot at 405 University Drive. Please remember to remove all ornaments or decorations from the trees.   Read more...

Biltmore Hotel Honored with Grand Prix Preservation Award 

The Biltmore Hotel's charm and historic significance have won over the judges of the prestigious International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI-USA) Grand Prix of Real Estate Awards. The award was presented to the City of Coral Gables and Biltmore leaderships at Tuesday's Commission meeting. The Grand Prix of Real Estate showcases the best projects in the USA built by US builders around the world.  The Biltmore, one of the City's most photographic and iconic buildings, was crowned the winner in the Preservation category, after judges were impressed with the conservation efforts of the 91-year-old building, its architectural details and historical significance in American history. Free UM Baseball Game Tickets for Residents

If you're a Coral Gables resident, you can receive up to four free tickets for upcoming UM baseball games. This offer is made possible thanks to a 20-year Development Agreement between the City of Coral Gables and the University of Miami. Only 250 tickets per game will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at the Watsco Center Box Office, 1245 Dauer Dr., open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Residents must show proof of residency. Tickets for the following games are available:
  • Sunday, February 25, 12 p.m. vs. Florida. Tickets available until Friday, February 23.
  • Sunday, March 11, 1 p.m. vs. Notre Dame. Tickets available until Friday, March 9.
  • Saturday, April 7, 7 p.m. vs. North Carolina. Tickets available until Friday, April 6.
  • Saturday, May 19, 1 p.m. vs. Boston College. Tickets available until Friday, May 18.

"Art of Balance" Exhibition  at Fairchild 

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is pleased to announce outdoor exhibition The Art of Balance, a series of gravity-defying sculptures by Polish artist Jerzy Kędziora. Nine of K ę dziora's pieces are now on display through March 31, 2018. The balancing sculptures are the only statues in the world that can keep their balance and defy gravity while being attached in only one or two places, perched high above the ground between trees. Traffic: Allow extra time to reach your destination and obey all posted signs and speed limits.

Construction began on January 3 on Blue Road by Riviera Country Club and will last about 30 days. Blue Road will be closed from University Drive to Campo Sano Court from 9 a.m.to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and will be only accessible for local traffic. Traffic will be redirected onto Blue Road through Campo Sano Avenue. 

FDOT is doing drainage work on Bird Road (SW 40 Street) and Red Road (SW 57 Avenue) until April. Expect a right lane closure along Bird Road traveling westbound from Alhambra Circle to Red Road, and a right turn lane closure along SW 57 Avenue.

Beginning next week, FDOT is doing roadway construction work along LeJeune Road (SW 42 Avenue) at Bird Road (SW 40 Street) until April. Construction will be done on stages and will require to periodically close travel lanes.

FDOT is doing a roadway project along Bird Road from SW 58 Avenue to Alhambra Circle until May. This will require to periodically close travel lanes.
FDOT is doing roadway construction along LeJeune Road from Almeria Avenue to Majorca Avenue until June. This will require to periodically close travel lanes.
