What is the Lease Compliance department's priority?
Our department’s current priority is to abstract and manage all tenant lease agreements in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner into our lease accounting management database and document management software. We are also responsible for keeping track of all property lease activity for reporting purposes, assisting and advising partners on tenant lease compliance and tenancy status inquiries, and maintaining formal communication with tenants (with things like rent commencement letters, rent increase letters, and sales reporting default notices).
Describe your role.
My role as a Senior Lease Compliance Analyst requires being detailed-oriented and having the ability to interpret lease language in abstracting and managing lease agreements to ensure the integrity of the company portfolio data, which includes the skills to provide lease analysis and interpretation of lease information. I also work collaboratively with the Leasing, Construction and Accounting teams to monitor the progress of a tenant’s new construction, relocations, expansions, downsizing, remodeling, term renewals and vacancies to input, chronologically organize, maintain, and report tenant’s occupancy and billing income status into our lease accounting management database for various company-wide reporting purposes.
What's something unique about your role that people may not know?
In this role, you must also think like an accountant. Having the responsibility of setting up and turning off tenant lease billing charges and reviewing, preparing, and processing monthly rent increase letters requires close attention to dates and dollars!
