A Note from Michael
On Saturday, November 25th the Rowlett Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with American Express, held its first Small Business Saturday. Twenty-seven Rowlett small businesses participated in the event which had shoppers collecting a "passport" at the Chamber office early Saturday morning while they had breakfast. Shoppers visited businesses, got their passports stamped, made purchases and returned the passports to the Chamber to be entered into a drawing for door prizes.
Dozens of shoppers showed up between 9:30 AM and 12 Noon to pick up their passports. Several shoppers later stated that they discovered businesses they didn't even know existed. Many said the day was "fun", "cool" and "exciting".
Tricia Brewer, owner of Treasured Blossoms Flower Market said, "My staff and I had a lot of fun being creative and getting ready for Small Business Saturday. It was great seeing new faces, taking pictures with shoppers and posting them on social media and building relationships with the community. We are definitely looking forward to doing this again next year."
izes included donations from Massage Envy, Jimmy John's, ACG Medical Supply, Gloria Young Brody - Arbonne International, Your Flooring Solutions, Sandra Colvin - Mary Kay and Eva Hummel of Atmos Energy.
