Lessons on Faith + Virtue

This Week's Virtue is Obedience

MeaningAssenting to rightful authority without hesitation or resistance.

Ways to Cultivate Obedience

Ages 6 and up:

Listen; follow directions. "I would be happy to do that for you!"

Ages 10 and up:

Listen; follow directions the first time they are given and without complaint.

Ages 12 and up:

Listen to rightful authority; follow directions the first time without complaining and in a prompt manner; anticipate what is expected of you.

Prayer for Obedience

Dear Jesus, You are God, and yet You were obedient to Mary and Joseph. Help me to do all that my parents and teachers ask of me - promptly, joyfully, and completely. This virtue pleases You more than all other sacrifices!

October is the Month of the Holy Rosary

October is the month of the Holy Rosary. The feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated annually on October 7th. It was instituted to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary in gratitude for the protection that she gives the Church in answer to the praying of the Rosary by the faithful. This month, set aside time to pray the rosary - alone, with your family, or even on your drive to work. There are many apps and YouTube videos that will walk you through praying the rosary if you need a guide.

Respect Life Month

Pray With Us on Fridays

October is also Respect Life Month. Join our Pro-Life Club on Friday mornings starting this Friday, Oct. 3rd at 6:45am in front of the church to pray the rosary together. Each week we will welcome a guest speaker. This week's speaker is MC Lawson, theology teacher at McGill-Toolen Catholic High School and our Sacramental Coordinator at Corpus Christi Parish.

First Friday: Oct. 3rd

Adoration + Saint Shirts

October 3rd is First Friday and that means our students will spend time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament after our morning Mass and throughout the day. This is also the day that students may wear their blue saint shirts. CCS saint shirts from any year may be worn.

Called to Be Saints

At Corpus Christi School we love celebrating the lives of the Saints! A patron saint has been assigned to each class by Fr. Pat. These class patron saints will remain the same for each class during their entire time at CCS. The chosen saints offer our students more chances to interact with our Catholic faith by learning about their class saints. This year we are going to share more about our class saints via the Cougar Compass. We hope you will enjoy learning about them too!

St. Vincent de Paul

Feast Day: September 27th

Vincent had a very eventful life. He grew up on a farm in France. After he became a priest, he was asked to serve as a chaplain to the queen. One day while traveling by sea, his ship was attacked by pirates and Vincent was captured as a slave. He eventually escaped and returned to France. These diverse experiences taught Vincent to see the dignity of each person, rich or poor. The example of his own courtesy has inspired people to serve the poor, especially by giving them clothing and food.

Each class is assigned a male and female patron saint. St. Vincent de Paul is the male patron saint for the Class of 2031.
